Medifast shakes...OH MY!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Well today was a big day, I began my 4 weeks of Medifast shakes...5 per day for a whopping intake of 500 calories a day! So far I have had 3, one chocolate (of course) one orange cream and a strawberry. Blah blah and blah LOL!! Oh and the best part is I have to add 2 tablespoons of canola or olive oil to one a day so my gallbladder has something to do!Nice oily taste in my mouth!

The nurse told me if I lose a lot this week she may let me have a piece of turkey and a spoonfull of veggies on T-day! Ok it's not much, but I'll make that goal #1, this is going to be one long month. I can't understand why some Drs don't require any pre-op diets and mine is so drastic!!!

Oh well.....I also had my psych eval today. It was about 10 minutes long! He said I was an "excellent candidate"...so does that mean I'm not crazy?!?! :( I may not be now, but at the end of these four weeks I'll be somewhat insane!!

Good luck to all on the journey!

I am also on the medifast diet...week 5. I have only lost 13.5lbs. I shouldn't say only...but I was expecting a dramatic loss. My pre-op diet is intense as well. Best of luck. If you need any medifast support i'm here . The oatmeal is ok :(.

Thanks....I'll take all the support I can get!! I'm not allowed anything other than the shakes, but I see they do have other meal options.

5 weeks...I feel your pain!!

Be strong

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
