Hi,

I am a week out and just had to sneeze for the first time. I could barely get the sneeze out because my chest is still so heavy. Did anyone else have this experience?

Hello MGirl, i know when i came home i had to hold my stomach when i got ready to sneeze and it hurt more than anything. i think your chest feels heavy because your lungs has not went back to thier capacity on breathing like they use to. While in the hospital that's why they had you do those breathing exercises and had you to continue to take deep breaths. it is normal and will go away soon, of course i'm not a Dr. but i did feel what you are feeling. It Gets Better EveryDay Hang in There and I wish You a Speedy Recovery !

I remember having a feeling like this after surgery.

I thought it was the swelling in my abdomen pushing on my diaphram.

The one thing that seemed to help was walking.

I walked as much as I could.

It seemed to relieve the pressure on my lungs.

I'm not sure if this is the feeling you have but it is certainly worth a try.:(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
