Hi Princess. Congratulations on getting your band. Right after my surgery I found that warm drinks went down much better than very cold ones did. It hurt when I drank really cold Propel Water or ate a sf popsicle. I had pain from the gas - heating pad (not right on incisions) on my shoulder, walking, peppermint tea - all helped. I also had trouble sleeping. Slept sitting up for a week or two. I felt pretty good about a week after my surgery and good about 10 days out. If you are feeling hungry, try broth or hot tea. I know that may not be what you are wanting, but you need to stick with those liquids to help in the healing process. Make sure you follow your doctor's instructions and don't be afraid to call them if you have any problems or questions. I had many of my questions answered here and got a lot of support. If I can do anything to help you, please feel free to let me know - questions.... concerns.... or if you just need to vent. Good luck to you - take good care of yourself!! Becky

Hi! I posted on my blog every day after my surgery on 10/23/08 -- feel free to take a look. You may feel a little differently, but it should give you a good idea of what to expect! I have links to a few others' blogs that I found really helpful posted as well. They really helped me to make my decision and to know what to expect.

Best,

Catherine

Hey! I just had my surgery and I am right there with you. I am sore, bruised and my shoulder hurts. But each day it all gets better a little. Hopefully I will be 100% soon. Tomorrow will be a week. I haven't lost any weight yet even though I am only doing protien shakes, yogurt, broths, and baby food fruit, but I am still so bloated from the surgery I figure it doesn't matter yet. Have you started losing any weight yet?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
