What is the difference?

There isn't a lot. The Realize band is softer and not pre-shaped. The balloon/reservoir is bigger. The buckle is bigger too. The port has claws that attach to the muscle wall instead of being sewn (though it can also be sewn).

But they both work on the same principle and have similar results.

Thank you for your response. Claws? That sounds scary. Can't it move out of place? Doesn't it hurt?

The claws are supposed to hold it in better and keep the port from flipping. Only time will tell if this works better than the Allergen way. Oh and the Realize port is low-profile while with the LapBand® you have to ask for that as an option. I forgot about that one.

Thanks for the information. I will definitely discuss this with my doctor.

Keep in mind the Realize Band is 14 years old, its the old Swedish Band from Europe in a new box with a new name.

The LapBand AP the newest and latest band on the market. Don't be fooled by Johnson and Johnsons' BS marketing tactics. The Lapband AP is the most effective gastric band in the world.PERIOD.

I'm confused. Which band does JJ market? And if the Lap Band AP is the newest, how do you know it's the most effective?

J&J Markets the Realize Band, again which is the Swedish Band from 1994 in a new box

I read the clinical trials, it's in black and white. Clinical Trials take place well before the product is released to the market. Otherwise, it doesn't get released to the public.

Wow, rockbandster, you never give up do you?

If you look at many studies of lap bands, the two bands perform the same both in the short term and long term. If you just pick out one study, you can find ones that make Lap-band look bad or ones that make the Realize band look bad compared to each other. But if you look at all the studies, you see that average EWL is similar with both bands.

Macmadame-Please cite some of these studies, ID love to see them..Talk is cheap..Site a study where the Realize Band and the LapBand AP have similar weight loss. Please provide some clinical proof instead of opinions. If you have read these studies which it seems you have, please validate these claims.

Also keep in mind the LapBand is NO LONGER IMPLANTED.

Everyone uses the LAP BAND AP THIRD GENERATION BAND.

Looking at studies for implants that are no longer used wont be helping anyone because no one gets the old lap bands anymore.

It's not true that the older Lap-bands are no longer implanted. Just look around here and see what people report. Someone in the intro section just this week reported getting one of the Lap-bands where the reservoir only holds 5 ccs. That's even older than the ones just before the AP line.

I quoted the studies before and so did other people. Just read back in this thread and all the others you've posted your same four lies in.

I don't know why you have such a hate-on for the Realize band. It's just a band, not a tool of the devil. Many people have used it and are doing quite well with it. As you say, it's been around for over 10 years so it's not like we don't know what kind of results it gets and only a handful of people have it.

Anyone who still gets an old lapband when the AP is out needs to discuss his or her surgeons choices - that makes no sense

What study?--if you quoted it before - do it again- show me a 62% EWL with the Realize Band at 12 months

Saw my PCP & officially started my 6 month supervised diet 07/26/24. She just told me to eat less carbs & sugar, use the air fryer and not fry my foods in grease, and to try to walk 30 minutes 3 days a week & if I can't do that (and I cannot), to walk 10 minutes daily. Told me to walk fast enough that my heart rate is raised.  She didn't give me a number as far as calories though. A year or so ago I was doing low carb/sugar free and keeping my calories at 1800 or below. She said I should up my cals to 2000 at that time, so that's what I'm shooting for now.
Hubby walked with me today. He's in pretty bad shape so I was surprised he wanted to. We walked down the gravel road at a pretty good pace (for us LOL). 10 minutes walking and my heart rate was 115bps according to my Fitbit and 125bps according to his pulsometer. Either way, it was elevated and I was breathing hard. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a start. We'll do it again tomorrow. 😁
I should be hearing from the surgeon soon. She said if I didn't, to call him next week. Since I HAVE to do the 6 month diet & that's going to put me into January by the time it's done, I'm hoping the surgeon will let me do all my testing in January. I don't want to do it all now and have my deductible get met, only to have to pay the deductible again in January or February for my surgery. Praying that things go the way I hope. 🙏

Technological Advancements: Innovations in the production and formulation of alternative sweeteners are impelling the market growth. Advancements in biotechnology and food science are leading to the development of high-intensity sweeteners with improved taste profiles and functional properties. Innovations in fermentation processes enhance the production efficiency and quality of natural sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit. These technological improvements are making alternative sweeteners more appealing to both manufacturers and consumers. Enhanced stability, solubility, and sweetness intensity allow these sweeteners to be used in a wide range of products, ranging from beverages to baked goods.
