Hi Emma

I was banded by Tony Patiniotis on Sept 11 - you will get an information sheet prior to surgery where his advise is basically "anything that can fit up a straw" for the first 2 weeks, so I don't think he seems to be too strict on what we are allowed to drink.

Besides, I'm at 11 days banded now and I can only just finish off an Up n Go in one sitting so I'm not particularly fussed about the calories

hey,

thaat pain, farting? the only way to clear it, i asked hime about it in my 1 week follow up and he said just the gas, thinking, wonderful!!! trust me, even 2 months on, you still get the occassional stomach ache, and need either to go to the loo or have a massive fart!! but hard to tell.

i hope your recovering well, yep dont jump!!! what are you drinking? found anything nice you like? i lived on up and go, despite the more cal's but more filling, especially when your starting to feel hungry.

on friday i get my first fill, and am happy about it, cos im stuck at 116kg, cant break it!!!! yes, i have or am more insane than before! i think it will help cos im eating to big amounts and am very hungry inbetween and dont want to have to keep reling on cordial and coffee with extra sugar!!!

but only a couple more days,

hope everyone is well

and let us tassie peoples stick together!!! and continue to be here for each other

take care

sus

Hi there -

Gee I hope the gas is gone in two months - not looking forward to more of that

Lucky you getting your fill on Friday. I hope it goes well.

I have just been for a good walk with my fellow LB buddy - we were done within 5 days of eachother. It is good to have a close freind to share the journey with - but it is hard not to compare progess too. She is doing so well - has lost twice the amount of weight that i have and was banded after me. I am really happy for her ans so proud of how she is going - I just wish I was going as well as her too. I know - early days yet and my time will come. I am extremely impatient!!!!

I Have walked each day for the last three which is good. I have ventured back to sloppy mash for the last two nights - and added a litte bit of mince last night and little bit of sausage tonight. I can't eat more than about 4 dessert spoons full - but i feel like I need it. Finding that I am very tired in the arvo. Not to mention crabby :frown:. I am not interested in much during the day though - but I make sure I have at least a few spoons of yoghurt and a little Soup over the day. I am a bit confused about this eating business - Dr W says liquids for four weeks, yet the book he suggested I buy from his rooms outlines soft mushy food now (I will be three weeks on Thurs). hmmmm........i am just trying to listen to my body and do what feels right. Did you buy the LAP-BAND® book???

hmmmm - not much else to report today. I have been off work for the last two days looking after sick kids. I hope to god that I don't pick up thier gastro bug!!!!! that would be awful at this stage.

Can't wait to hear you news post fill. oh forgot to add that milo and tea are my drink of choice atm - but also found making a banana and chocolate sustagen smoothie pretty good too - just seems to take forever to get through!!

See Ya

Sal

hey sal,

first of all as soon as you mentioned milo, i wanted some!! my nana used to make it wonderfully!! heat the milk on the stove even! perfect, that and how she prepares the hot cross Buns, sorry couldnt help myself!!!

i agree, i brought the book, it has confused me more than anything!!!! as in i thought bugger this!!! they should figure it out, the nurse i had post-op, said the other surgeon lets the pts have ice, but wilkinson wont, despite him saying it in his book on the second page!!! although i was lucky i had to drink to take my drugs, so needed it!!

the book is nothing but trouble!! but being totally nieve and they suggest it and only $20, thinking more information, but nope, i wouldnt reccomend it!!

i too am very impatient, having lost a tincy bit of weight i am just almost wanting that 60kg to be off when i wake up tommorrow!!! it drives me nuts and totally insane sometimes!! im at home with a sore neck, so havent been to the gym this week, i go to all aeorbics and have pt once a week, but when my neck feels better ill get back on the wii fit and do some step and boxing, my favorites, if you dont have one, i highly reccomend it, but at 28 im also a very big kid at heart still!!

anyways, congratulations on the weight loss so far, on the days i dont exercise i have the wonderful steps to play with just to go pee!! i hate living in a 2 story house!!

anyways, massive digress, i hope your kids get better soon and stay healthy,

Hi Sus,

i so agree with you about the book being nothing but trouble. I felt obliged to take it - but there seems to be very little that matches up with what Dr W says. anyway - I am just doing what feels right at the moment. Some nights i have Soup for tea, other nights might be a bit of mash veg. last night I actually put some chicken kiev and roast veg through the food processer then thined it out with milk so it was like runny baby food. OMG - it was awesome. so delicious!!1 I had about 1/3 cup worth and felt so satisfied to be eating something semi-real!!!!

I am enjoying my day off today, although my little man is still not 100%. He has an ear infection. ouch...Do you have children??? I have three - aged 4, 7 1/2 and 10. I have been a bit crabby this week - not sure if it is the post lap band blues or just feeling a bit tired and run down. At least I am not so cranky today

The Wii sounds like so much fun. We are planning on getting one for the kids for x-mas this yr. I will definately get the Wii fit set up too. I have been walking of an evening all week - we even went in the rain and wind the other night - our umbrella's flipped inside out - but hey - no excuses right!!!! walking is my exercise of choice and I am lucky to have great little town to walk around and I always feel safe at night too.

Can't wait to hear how your first fill went and how you go over the next few weeks. My band has been feeling really tight early in the mornings - do you have that too?

talk soon

Hi Sal,

i got 3ml put in, in 2 months, lost 6kg. but today, totally sad and depressing, i went a month ago cos my big cut was red and infected, and of course the girls weighed me then, so this month i have put on point 1 of a kilo! my own fault, not exercising enough, but hungry and eating to big, and told him that and he said after 6 weeks put more in, had to have Soup for tea, probley had 50-100ml of soup and not hungry!!! for the first time since i started eating!! stoked about that, and i can actually palpate now were my band is. he told me to go liquid today and soft tomorrow, so by tommorrow night back to normal i think!

oh i have a goal, im currently 117kg, when i get to 100kg im buying a necklace, they look terrible on me at the moment so havent worn one or even found one that fits!! so thats a good goal, something i want!

since 2pm when i got my fill, i have had soup and 2 coffees and am perfectly not hungry, so weird, yesterday, the same circumstance getting home from work i would of eaten, and had no problems with taking my drugs.

has anyone found recipe books for us special peeps? ive been hunting but only found the occassional recipe but nothing exciting!

no i dont have kids, been single for a long time, actually since i moved to hobart!!! but the weight is my embrassing isssue! but i would love to have kids later, im a career women. so when i move back to the mainland end of next year or early 2011 i want to get a retired grey hound, they are so cute!! and love cuddles!! and prefer to sleep the whole day than anything else!

i recommend the wii fit to everyone, no matter what stage of fitness you are, it has something for everyone.

i havent woken up yet to find out if its tight, i only finished work tonight at 10:30 and its 12:20 in the morning.

i was just so excited and had to tell people who would understand what it feels like to all of a sudden not feel hungry and put back on the right track!! my neck is better so booked in for p.t again and must get my arse really into gear!!

anyways goodnight everyone

keep smiling

Hi Sus

So what is life like now after that first fill?? did it hurt much to have it done?? I am a big wuss when it comes to pain, ha,ha,ha. What has your eating been like since the fill - are you still not overly hungry?

Six 6kg off is fantastic - you should be proud of yourself and not look at a 0.1kg gain as anymore than your bodies natural daily fluctuation. Don't be so hard on yourself. I don't look at anything under .5 kg as more than daily fluctuation to be honest. your goal of a necklace sounds lovely too - I hope you find something that is just perfect!!

I have not come across any good recipies as such - I have just been blending up whatever my family is having for tea. Last night I had spag bog unblended which was great. I just cut up the past very finely and made sure the meat was fine too. No problems!!

I am really really hungry today though.....hmmmmm..........have been thinking about food for at least the last two hours :tongue2: Ah well - I guess it had to come at some point. The one thing I am really missing is cheese. OMG - I love cheese so much and would just about kill for a peice. tragic I know.......

Well I had better dash and get some washing sorted, and some tea on the go for the family. One great thing is the money being saved on groceries at the moment seeing that I am eating less than kiddie size portions.

I hope you are well - looking forward to hearing how you are going post fill.

See Ya

Sal

hey everyone,

days on, well i now feel no differance, not as hungry, but i can still eat and it doesnt matter if i totally dont chew things to liquid.

it doesnt feel any different in the mornigs.

it is a weird pain, a large needle, you lay on your back and do a mini crunch, and he just pokes it in and no band aid or anything! weird, he will make you drink some Water after just to make sure, and felt weird, but woke up fine.

it was weird that night i drempt only of junk food, weird!

apart from that, nothing else to right home about, he just enougraged me to keep up my walking

anyways actually tea time

see yas later

hey everyone,

hope everyone is well. i did a double shift at work last night so 18hr, 10 hours double time so an extra 500-600 bucks.

i thought i would write and tell everyone how i felt when i was up past my bed time, makes me sound like a 2 year old! i got hungry, and they give you food, almost the same as the airplane food!! i had one of those sandwich made into 4 triangles, ate the bread throughly and no pain, but also and i really enjoyed it, baked egg with fruit custard, hmmm yum. my mum used to make it. so i figured i was hunrgy, the food was free and a treat, i weighed myself tonight and only put on 1.5kg, so im happy with that.

i am determined this week, to go to the gym 2 times a week, eat as perfectly as i can, so i can lose 5kg by the end of the month when i go home for a week to see my family back in geelong and also see the david strassman show, it will be good, my 3yr old niece when she grows up wont remember me as her fat aunty, and make my nan and pop proud, and me so hopefully when i decided to have kids i can be on the right drugs so i can have kids, but as ive been told there are alot of kids out there that need a home and love.

sorry for my ranting and raving, i suppose we all have reasons and i just wanted to share mine, being 28, turning 29 next month, im not going to be 30 and be over weight, healthy weight instead!!

be good and take care everyone, until the next time, and i think having the fill has deffiently helped me

hey everyone,

i get next fill on the 10th of november, as soon as i come home from my holidays. i found that afterwards as in my first fill i could no longer eat lettuce or rocket or sprouts, just crunchy stuff. so im adding either snow peas or sugar snap peas, both have the same amount of calouries.

im day 5 today in being sick as, i have strepraccoccolus in my throat, the doc reckons i got it from work, i would agree!! i have to have panidiene forte just so i can take my drugs, ive put myself back on the liquids and hydrolyte icypoles cos my throat kills all the time!!! at least the antibugs liquid isnt too bad!! so in the space of 3 days i lost nearlly 3kg. so it brings my total now to 13kg, considering i wont be exercising this week, i can hardly breath normally, let alone having p.t!

anyways hope everyone is well.

Hey everyone,

Well I was banded on the 9/10/09 and am two and half weeks later and still on liquids as I have no want/need to want food yet but I know I will have to make that step lol :(

Does anyone have any suggestions on what would be some good first mash food ?.......

On the upside I have lost 6 kg since being banded so am very happy with that as I havent been able to do exercise yet due to a previous injury.......

hey all,

emmajane, i found meat stews, as in how you would normally make them then barmix them, add mushed cauliflower, or pumpkin, or spuds, or those orange spuds, oh, McCain has brought out, oh sweet spud! too early in the morning! has brought them out sliced, boil them then, squish. about a cupful or handful, i found first time weird, but dont think of it as old peoples food! breakies, ceral of choice with more milk, lunch well i had either a mix of veigies or left over stew. i hope this helps.

hope everyone is well.

i am still sick, but at least can eat, i went on holidays to Geelong for my 29th birthday and to see David Strassman's, Ted E Bear's farewell tour, funny as! i was at 10kg when i left, after putting weight on when i was able to eat again from my sore throat, great way to lose weight, but i have a WOW! i had the same size serves, did have red rooster, but went halfs in a fish and chip basket with a friend, so no burger or no bread, and shared most of my chips with my brother, he's a growing boy, i also had a chocolate eclair, normal size, yummy, a very nice one, and i enjoyed it, took me 10mins or so to eat it, but i savoured every bit of real cream! also instead of cake i asked for mini cup cakes, that way if i had 10 it may equal a normal slice of cake, plus enjoyed some with icing!! pink and purple.

unfortunatly my throat started to hurt again and i couldnt face a bbq, but had salads with extra mayo, heres the best bit, i actually lost weight, i am hovering 12-13kg!!! i am so happy!! i should go home more often, i think its a sign!! im planning to in the middle of next year, but want to get to 70-75kg to get a new job.

has anyone else noticed the unofficial discrimination of obese people? were they would rather employe a slim or healthy lookig not as trained person, compared to an over weight well trained person? its not spoken off, does anyone else agree?

well i going, need another coffee, i was awoken to find that i have 1-2 or more birds in my roof, and i live in a block of 4 townhouses, they are making such a racket, i hope everyone else is a good sleeper or have ear plugs!!!

until the nexxt time, take care

sus

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
