Help! I need some encouragement...

Congrats to all the new bandsters!! Just wanted to say you will get better. I had a really bad time of things (hernia surgery along with band , a huge abcess <aprox 32 oz of infection taken out> at 3 weeks post banding) and LOTS of pain. In these moments I doubted my decision... The old "what the heck have I done to myself?"

But now, almost 5 months post op and minus 50 pounds, I know it was the best thing I have ever done.

So, even if you are in pain now... it will get better. Like everyone has said... take your pain meds, rest and take care of yourself. Before you know it you will be feeling soooo much better, and realize you just made the best decision of your life.

Hang in there. It will get better. I was banded on Nov. 10 and have not really had any major troubles but I can tell you that the gas pains are not my friend.

I have been up walking but the thing that worked for me for my shoulder was a heating pad. I slept all night with that heating pad on my shoulder two different nights this week.

It will get better. My prayers will be with you.

I have decided that otc Tylenol (adult liquid) works way better than the very expensive liquid loratab the dr. gave me. All the loratab does is make me sleepy, the tylenol gives me some relief in my neck and shoulder pain. My abdomen doesn't bother me much, except the port site. Just my opinion, follow your dr. orders!!

Yes!! I found the heating pad has been the only thing to help my shoulder and neck pain. I slept last night with it and it was wonderful. My stomach rumbles and rolls like there is an alien inside, but the gas is starting to work it's way out. I was determined to get better, so yesterday I was grocery shopping, making up the beds and trying to basically do normal household things. It really helped take me mind off the pain, helped the gas move out a bit and kept me going for the day.
