Any Reasonable Quick Fixes For When You Overeat?

Recommended Posts

Ok I totally overate at dinner tonight, which was a very yummy lean chicken dish.

What quick tips do you guys have that will help alleviate this awful feeling in my expanded tummy?

Should I drink some Water so it passes? Go for a walk? Fellow bandsters please help out an overstuffed gal with some healthy (ie no puking) ideas

I'd try to walk it off. For goodness sake, dont drink anything. You're at great risk of stretching your pouch if you overeat and if you really overdo it, you will probably puke it back up again.

I'm so scared I'm going to overeat! It's my fear now when I sit down to eat... trying to learn how to tell when I'm full and not overdo it. It's hard to eat slow when you're hungry... I guess this is what we must learn to do...

I hope you're feeling better by now.

Bridgette: Try not to go into a meal so hungry. I know alot of people think that 3 meals are it. But for me I think that a healthy snack, such as a piece of fruit, between meals, only makes things better. It will make it so you don't overeat or eat to fast at your meal. A healty snack will not hurt you or stop your weight loss. It will only help your body with nutrition it needs to encourage weight loss and give you the energy you need to exercise. Remember, the idea of the band is to encourage a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating habits. Try it out if you haven't and see if it will slow you down at meal time. Good Luck.

DONT DRINK ANYTHING!!!! You would think this would help, but that would be a mistake. It feels like it compounds it more. Getting up and walking and moving around helps. Concentrate on your breathing and relax. Positive thoughts:smile2:

The key to not over eating, put just a tablespoon of food on your plate. In time, you will begin to know the signs of when you are getting full. For me, I can tell when I am getting full because I start to have problems breathing, but, everyone has different signs. Also, remember, don't spend over 20 minutes while eating, don't eat infront of the TV, and try to talk a less as possible, this above things, can get you into trouble. Remember, you are only hungry for 30 minutes.

Something that has helped me is using a small bowl and a baby spoon. I am one of those that takes huge bites.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
