So I went to my orientation this past week end and have my appoint for the psyc December 30. Is this the time to start the diet? Or when should I start. I don't really remember them stating when we should start. Does anyone have an idea?

You need to do what your doctor tells you. If you are unsure and don't have another appt before your surgery date, call and ask. What's required depends very much on the doctor and the patient. Some people have no preop diet, some are on all liquids, some must eat 6 small meals a day, etc....and how LONG they diet can range from 1 day to 6 months. So call your doc and find the answer that's right for you!

Everyone is very different. For me I start 4 weeks of Medifast shakes this tuesday the 18th. My surgery is Dec 18th. I'm sure as you get closer you will get all the information that you need.

Good luck!!

Wait till your doctor tells you to start. I only had to do a 5 day pre-op diet. It is different for everyone. Now is the time to get in all your last supper. LOL Like the things you love that you may not be able to eat. I had pizza that other night and had almost the whole thing. I am gonna miss that. Good luck and I wouldn't stress about the dieting until you are told to.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
