I had my surgery this last Monday, Nov. 10th. There is an indent in my stomach where one of the incisions are. When I questioned the nurses they said they have never seen this happen and never heard of it neither. I asked my doctor and he said it is normal and it will grow back the way it should. He said that is where the camera and lap band were inserted and there is a stich there. I am still worried about it, because it is causing me tons of pain. If this happened to you or you know anything of the sort, then please please let me know about it. I need some piece of mind...even if it isn't good news.

I had the same kind of strange indentation after my surgery too.

I really noticed it the most when I was sitting down, I kinda looked like i was deformed!

I was banded just over a month ago, and I think it was just part of the post-surgery swelling or edema. You are going to be a little puffy for a while and that's what I chalked it up to.

I still have some surgery bruising, but the indentation is definately gone!

Hope that helps a little.

I had my surgery on November 7th, and I have a swollen ridge along my top four incision lines. It looks really funny, because my lower abdomen isn't swollen. I'm guessing it is only post-op swelling and it will go away soon.

Hi Ladies..I was browsing through..I have the same issue. Mines is where my bigger incision is. I was banded on October 22 and I'm not scheduled to go back until late November. However, I am going to question what this deformity is all about. I don't really have any pain there, but it is kinda strange looking. It only appears when I am sitting down. The first time I noticed it, I was like WTF?

Jenny,

That might be where your port is. My biggest incision has my port under it. It was also the most tender.

I'm 101 days post op and I also have an indentation with the port incision. It was tender early on, especially during the post-op healing period - but now rarely experience any discomfort. I only notice the indentation while seated - and most notably when I first wake up. I think that's when everything is most firm.

I also notice this indentation and it is definitely where the port is..I 'm guessing its because its attached to the abdomen. If i contract my stomach muscles I can see the indent more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
