Banded 10/28 - never feel full!

Recommended Posts

I have a question. I was banded on 10/28 and I have not yet felt full. If it weren't for a little will power, I would be eating like normal. I fell like I could eat and eat, just like i did before. I have been pacing myself and only eating the 3 recommended meals but it's starting to worry me. Anyone else experience this?:D

hey there. congrats on the new band.

my dietician explained to me before the surgery how it works...she told me i would feel frustrated, because of what happens but not to worry..the real fun begins AFTER the first fill.

when you get the band put on, your stomach swells and the band is empty. This is why the first few days liquids were very filling. Over the next week or 10 days, the swelling subsides and the band is loose around the tummy..this is 100% normal, and your appetite will increase.

after that first fill though, i was told it will be tight..and it will go back to being the way it was after the surgery with very little needed..

hope my news helps.

Many people think that it is important to only eat 3 meals a day. If you feel hungry between meals it is okay to grab a piece of fruit or some other healthy snack. It will help to not be so hungry when it's meal time. When your over hungry you tend to eat to fast, which is a no-no. food is not our enemy, we need to make better choices. That healthy snack will only help your body function better during the day and during exercise. I think that sometimes there is a misconception that with the band you will never get hungry. That's not a reality. Of coarse your band has nothing in it right now so there isn't going to be any or little restriction. It may take a few fills to start feeling the restriction you like. Be patient, it will start helping you soon! Good Luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
