Carrie_C 9 Posted December 31, 2008 How did everyone do over the holidays? I didn't lose, but I also didn't gain, so I am happy.
pattic 1 Posted December 31, 2008 I have lost 6 pounds over the last three weeks. I was really bummed because I kept losing/gaining the same 4 pounds for 2 months. I have a few more ounces to go and I will finally reach 50 pounds since the start of this journey. :wink2: Hope everyone has a great 2009!.
bandfan1 0 Posted January 5, 2009 I have been reluctant to post here, but the reality is that I AM a slow loser!! I always have been!!! I have stepped up my exercise and am watching what I put into my mouth. It's unfortunate that some of the healthy foods don't go down very easily, but the "bad" stuff does!!! The nice thing about being a slow loser is that I feel natural at my weight whereas in the past when I lost it fast I always felt that it was "temporary"... This loss is forever and I will be able to keep moving forward and not slipping backward thanks to the band!!!!
Carrie_C 9 Posted January 5, 2009 I agree, I feel more natural too than in the past.
bandfan1 0 Posted January 5, 2009 Carrie_C: It looks like we are at the same spot with weight loss. I was banded May 1st and part of the reason for the slow loss is because I didn't exercise like I should. I do "home parties" and the last 4 months have been crazy with little time for myself. During the day I run a daycare out of my home. I have been exercising consistently for about 2 weeks now and I feel great!! The scale is STILL not moving a lot, but it is moving sslllloooowwwwlllyyyyy!! I guess I can't ask for more. I am focusing on Protein, Water, exercise and healthy eating. I have been doing some research on unrefined virgin coconut oil and I am VERY impressed with what the research is saying about it.... Most of all, it is supposed to be a catalyst for weight loss (among all of the other amazing qualities). I don't have a specific site in mind, but if you "google" it as: health benefits of unrefined coconut oil, you can read up on it. I just thought that I would pass this information along to anybody who is interested. Best of everything to everyone on this journey!!!! I am also being diligent about Calcium, Multivitamin and extra Vitamin D (I found a gel cap that is really small and easy to swallow).
bandfan1 0 Posted January 5, 2009 Wow, lots of us slow May losers have PCOS and/or insulin resistance. I have both also. I went off metformin cold turkey the day of surgery after being on it for 7 years. I wonder if that is impacting me? I have religously counted calories and journaled this week and I am down 3.5 lbs. Let's encourage each other. We're half-way to our 1 yr mark, we still have time to be "successful"- whatever that may be in each of our own cases! I have type 2 diabetes, and I am SURE that this is the reason for the slow loss (in addition to not enough exercise). When I had my blood tested last week, cholesterol went down, triglycerides went down, but my A1C went up!!!! I have to keep fine-tuning what I eat and I am determined to figure this out!!! Everyone on this thread seems positive and we have all acknowledged our responsibility here, so hopefully we can use this thead in a productive way to keep each other going....
Carrie_C 9 Posted January 5, 2009 I don't exercise like I should either. I was doing really well before the holidays, but I have to admit that I used the holidays as an excuse not to do anything. So I am trying to start back.

mdgarcia31665 0 Posted January 17, 2009 Hi guys. My scale hasn't moved in at least 3 months. Talk about bugged. No, I haven't been exercising the way I should either. Some walking, but not enough. I started back at the gym on Tuesday. Talk about an ass kicker. I am so sore I can barely walk. And I have to go up the stairs to get to my office at work! Painful. Everyone keeps telling me, (you know the old addage) "No pain, no gain". So I thought I would come here and get some moral support from those who know best. Take care everyone have a great day! pattic 1 Posted January 19, 2009 I think I finally found an exercise program I like. I received Turbo Jam as a Christmas present and I love it. I am hoping my weight loss will start picking up again. My goal of getting off my diabetes and high blood pressure medicine has been achieved. I am now taking 11 pills less every month. Sure helps the pocket book. Carrie_C 9 Posted January 19, 2009 That's great! I have yet to find a workout video that I like. All the ones I have tried are too hard.
stef123633 1 Posted January 21, 2009 Hi all, went in for my 5th fill today...they added .3cc....not sure what I am up to now. I had lost 12 lbs since my last fill 3 months ago but in the last month nothing. I'm down total 25lbs and have 25 more to get out of the "overweight" BMI :-)
Aquameliza 0 Posted January 22, 2009 OMG Am I happy to find this thread or what? Seeing so many people banded AFTER me or at the same time with 80 pounds loses was killing me. I have been very slow - BUT, I have not gained any weight - not even over the holidays - very slow, but still steady. I know I need another fill and was not agressive enough with them at first as I notice most folks are - that seems to be key. I do think that I am getting closer to that sweet spot though. So, here is my question and confession. I joined Weight Watchers again. I swore that I would NEVER start on week one again, but, here I am. I have my first post baseline weigh in today and I am kind of looking forward to it. Now, I am prety sure that I couldn't tell any fellow WW about the lapband, but was curious if anyone else has gone this route after realizing that the band does not fix everything and that we still have to work at this?
