Mrs.LadyLuck 0 Posted November 12, 2008 Hello all I am new to this fourm. I am going to a seminar tonight. I didn't think I would be a canidate for the lap band but I spoke with Dr. Curry in Cincy and he said with my BMI I am. I am going to be a self pay, because I dont think I will qualify yet through insurance because I dont have health issues yet. But I am only 26, and I have always been heavy. I love this fourm so far, its wonderful reading everyones story. I am just worried I will lose to much weight since I have 70 to 80 pounds to lose. I also fear the extra skin....... Thanks Missy :thumbup:

Thanks Missy :thumbup: Missy, I wish I had done the lap band at 180 lbs, even at 160 lbs. My understanding is that if you have 40 lbs or more to lose, you are a candidate for the band. Read through more of these threads, read up more on the band and you will realize that your fear of losing to much weight is groundless.

luluc 6 Posted November 12, 2008 a BMI over 30 is obese - so your definitely a candidate. i wish i had mine that early, rather than letting it get up to 35. one thing to consider; weight loss is a tad slower for Lower BMI individuals (my experience and those of some here). good luck to ya!!!
