lizbuff 0 Posted November 12, 2008 Does anyone else have problems getting stuck when eating leftovers that have been reheated in the microwave? At first I thought it was just the rice with Chinese food, but I heated a small hamburger patty today and it got stuck and I PB'd. I don't overheat it. Just enough to it's a little warm. Should I just say No to microwave reheating all together?
aubrie 6 Posted November 12, 2008 Microwaving messes with the cells in the food. It toughens many foods, espcially bread and meat. this means it's harder to chew and break down, harder to swallow and get through the stoma. I don't like my food being rearranged at a cellular level, so I avoid the microwave for the most part. I've even heard that microwaving destroys many of the nutrients in foods. for me it's just not worth it.
Jachut 487 Posted November 12, 2008 Unless its leftover Soup, I generally dont eat leftovers for exactly that reason. DH is banded too and has had to stop taking frozen leftovers to work, he just cant get it down - so he buys a salad sandwich every day. He can eat a SANDWICH but not leftovers out of the microwave! terilynn112 1 Posted November 14, 2008 Try covering them with saran wrap. It holds the moisture in. IF I can't do leftovers... I'll do without. I make large meals, and my kids need to eat. Teri
