I gained 7 lbs since my initial consultation in June. I sort of had a feeling that was happening, because I have been so stressed and out of it through the whole approval process. Then again I weighed in the midst of PMS so that could be part of it. :D

I'm worried that if I lose 10 lbs, the doctor will tell me I didn't lose enough. But if I lose it, then my liver will shrink anyway regardless won't it? I mean isn't the 10 days the same regardless of how much you weigh in?

I don't know, I've lost 5.5 in the last 2 days. Again, part of that could be that as of tomorrow I won't have PMS anymore. (I know, TMI). I also feel as if I've hit the wall, and I'm not hungry anymore. I was in bad shape yesterday, I had a headache, was irritable, wanted to cry all the time. I was never tempted to cheat (knock on wood), but I just wanted to fast forward to next week or sleep until then.

At the rate I'm going, I could drop 20 lbs before my surgery next week. Considering that next week I have a 3 day liquid diet. Who knows. I'm mad at myself for gaining that weight, but it is what it is.

Hi MellyB--

I am completing my 6-month medically supervised program and have gained 7 pounds since beginning. I, too, am mad and even a bit embarrassed. My last weigh in on the program is next Wednesday and I'm hoping to have at least the 7 pounds off so that I can end where I began.

I have noticed that as I've gotten older, I put on quite a bit of weight around my cycle. Last month I gained 6 pounds, which I thought was simply amazing. This month I gained 4. All this to say, it's very possible that the gain is connected to your cycle.

Try not to be mad at yourself. You've come very far on a journey of self care. I wish you all the best and support you in your efforts to get off those few pounds.

Don't feel bad. I too gained 7lbs between my pre-surg consult and my pre-op testing (1 month). In fact the nurse said "oh, this can't be right, let me reset the scale" to which I replied "oh, no it's right and it's all donuts".

I completely binged out from the second I left my consult and scheduled a surgery date to the day I started my liquid diet (I am getting banded next Wed). Good news though in the first week of my LD I lost 8.3 lbs ---

But still ... 7lbs in a month. Not good. But then again, I guess that's why I need the band!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
