How Long Does It Take for Operation Bruises to Fade?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

This Monday was my one month surgery anniversary and I'm still nursing my bruises.

How long did it take most of you for the bruises to finally go away? I can't wait for them to be gone:tt2:

I'm three weeks out and my scars (and bruises) are much smaller than they were just after surgery. In fact, I didn't really have any bruising. The only bruising I noticed was from the IV and it was gone within the week. How much bruising do you have?

I have always bruuised easily and the part that remains is at the port site.

I was hoping it would be gone by now, and it is definately not an infection.....just gross bruising.

My other incision sites are kinda just a red welt like color.

I was banded 7/31/08 and i had a lot of bruising. Everyone is different. My bruises were still very much there when i hit my one month bandiversary. Mine were completely gone at about 2 1/2 months.

I had bad bruising too and a couple of the sites - one being the port site - were still bruised although healing at about five weeks after my surgery. I had one on my left side where the liver retractor must have been that took two months to go away and there wasn't even an incision made there.

Thanks for replying eveyone.......I know that everyone has a different experience with the band, but I'm glad to know that my bigger port bruise is not that unusual. I feel much less neurotic now :D

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
