My Mom Is OK With Me Getting it!

My mom gave me the okay on getting the lap band surgery. She said that I need to find 3 doctors who will say "yes she does need this surgery" and i need to call out insurance company (healthnet) and make sure they cover it.

I told her about Dr.Ortiz in Mexico and she said theres no way in hell, even though I feel like he's perfect for the job.

So does anyone know of any doctors around the Southern CA area that are AWESOME when it comes to 18 year olds and their parents?

That is so great! I am so excited for you. You have a great Mom. Dont ever forget that. I am 33 and it took me forever to get my mom to come around. She is happy now that I am loosing the weight.

Congratulations! I'm 27, married, with a child, but telling my Mom was the scariest part LOL. I made her go to the information night with me and after that, she agreed it was probably for the best.

As for the information evenings, here in Aus, I think most surgeons are doing it now, to make sure you've got plenty of information before you go in for the initial consultation. It was really helpful for me.

My daughter is 17 1/2 & was banded on May 27th by Dr. Ortiz. He specializes in teens. If you should want your mom to talk to me, just PM me & I'll give you my phone #.

Regarding my own banding, it took my 5 months to tell my mother. She reacted well, I think she was just so happy to see me lose weight.
