Banana pain

Recommended Posts

I had written before that I was experiencing severe stomach pains. That whole week I had started eating a low fat yogurt and 1/2 a banana for Breakfast. A friend suggested that I stop eating the banana. MIRACLE! The pains stopped the next day. I had never had problems with bananas before, and don't know what caused the reaction this time, but my pain is gone. Has anybody else come across this situaltion with bananas or any other food?

Wow! I thought I was going crazy Saturday night! I had a banana during the day, (my first one) and that night I had severe pains on the left side under my ribs. I did not realize that it could have been the banana! I have not tried to eat another one again, and oddly enough, have not had the pain again. I would also like to hear from anyone else that this has happened to.

I don't get severe pains from bananas, but have always had trouble eating them with my band. They seem to get stuck, not enough to cause pbing, but enough to make me feel yucky. My daughter has said the same thing and avoids bananas too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
