Hey all! Well I backed out of my appointment this morning with the WLSC, and called Dr. Malleys office, I am now set up to attend his seminar on Jan 6th, 2007.

The lady that answered the phone was SOOOOOOO nice, she told me that she was his very first lap band and she thought he was awesome, she said he has done over 500 bands and NOT ONE PERSON has had an erosion. He doesn't sew over the buckle which they had been finding was a big source for erosions........ so yes, I think I've made the right choice...

And the BIG WONDERFUL NEWS is that he takes blue cross, so he is IN NETWORK for me and my in network hospital is going to be Menora.

I'm excited.

I have to say that I had my consult with Dr. Malley on 1/8/07 in his new office on Lamar. He is so funny.. quiet, but funny... His staff is GREAT! Darlene, Nikki, Rachel......... poor Rachel.. she is both a nurse and the insurance guru.. I've been keeping her email hot with insurance stuff....

I look forward to getting banded HOPEFULLY in February 2006

Hi! Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I really like Dr. Malley and his staff. He is quiet but very gentle on fills, I don't really feel anything. Good luck!!

I hardly ever look at this thread, but for all that come later.....

The month of January 2007 flew by... and I started with consult on Jan 6th and by Jan 30th I had the official approval from my insurance.

Now I'm just waiting for a date!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
