Recommended Posts

I can't stand it anymore! *A little dramatic huh :eek:*

I have tried every Protein powder and Protein liquid that I can get my hands on and they're all NASTY-I am very sensitive to gross stuff lol I cant even take cough Syrup. and after surgery it was REALLY hard for me to take liquid lortab.

I started with Proteinex liquid...It really did make me vomit it has been the nastiest so far but I got it as a free sample.

I have tried to protein powders from Walmart and GNC I just cant get over the flavor and TODAY

I bought a protein liquid its 3tablespoons at a time and you get 18g protein...I just cant do it its nasty even though it has an orange flavor.....so tell me is there just a protein pill? Now powder, no mix no shot no liquid just a pill? Thanks bunches!

I believe there is a Protein pill, but you would have to take like 6-8 pills just to get enough Protein to get by. If taste is an issue for you, you are better off getting an unflavored protein that you can mix with your food. Heres a link check it out and you just might like it.

https://www.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog/itemHandler?id=1240

Take a look at that some people I know really like it since you can mix it with pretty much anything.

Hi there,

Have you tried AmazeRX Protein shakes? They taste like thick milk shakes! They have only 4 flavors, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and Mocha chocolate for the coffee drinker who loves the flavor or coffee. You can go online at www.AmazeRX.com and check it out. YOU won't be disappointed in the taste.

I also use the Protein bullets you get from GNC stores. It has 42grams...but I go halvers and use half in the morning and the other half in the afternoon...works great and have like 4 or 5 differnt fruit flavors. I add them to my Gatorade drinks and match the flavors! AWESOME. This will give you a 'kick' at first and last about 20 seconds but it's a good thing!!!

Hope this helps!

Jude =)

All I ever see at GNC is Protein powder (vanilla and choc) like in the big huge tubs...Never seen the protein bullets. Do the bullets have good flavor or do you mix them with something?

Hi Sweetie,

It is NOT a powder. It's in a 5" colored tube. They have punch (pink tube), orange (orange tube), blue raspberry (blue tube) and grape (purple tube). It's like a real thick Jello liquid. Some people like to drink it "as is". It's too strong and powerful. It has 43g of Proteins too. So, what I do is mix HALF of the tube with either a Crystal Light drink or Gatorade, which ever my preference in what I want to drink at the moment AND I try to mix the same flavors together. Like Grape flavored protein bullet and grape flavored Gatorade. I do this one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Some have mix it with Water...I haven't tried that yet.

Hope this helps you!

Jude =)

I am trying to remember the original cost...somewhere around $3.49 each? I wait til they come on sale. I got 12 tubes for $26, include tax. They were for $2.09 each then.

Yeah, I knew the bullets werent powder I have done some search and it seems that most ppl on here like the flavor of the bullets over anything else. ITs just the GNC near my house is smaller than most and all they have is Protein Powder. I'm gonna go by there tomorrow and see if theycan order me the bullets. Thanks bunches for the info. I count my daily intake of calories, fat and Protein and my protein seems to lack some days so I just wanted something I could tolerate protein wise. and I will def give thebullets a try :D

      Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

        We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

        This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

        Compassion goes a long way :)

        Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

      Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

        I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

        That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
