Thanks for the input everyone! I am trying to find the food and nutrition forum...but with the site's new layout...I am not finding it. I am sure it is right under my nose...will keep searching.

As far as quitting smoking - I quit 2 weeks before surgery using nicotine Patches and now I am even off the patch! The stress of being hungry in the last couple of days has really made me want to smoke, but so far I have held off.

OMG - the noodless lasagna...and the blended chilli I think I could bear~! These are the kind of things I am talking about! The refried Beans w/ sour cream and salsa sound awesome too!

I am soooo hungry right now....I would probably even try that blended whooper!

I don't have a fill till Dec 19...I think I will surely die!

Go to the Home Page and scroll down. The FAQs look like the end but they are not. food and Nutrition is below that. Just click on that and you will find the mushies thread.

As for eggs. I made creamy egg salad. I cut the eggs up in smallish pieces, put a little Dijon mustard and some light mayo (enough to make it creamy). The mustard gives it some zip. You can use yellow mustard if you don't like Dijon (0 calories in yellow mustard!). I did the same with tuna. If you have ever had a tuna salad sandwich from Panera bread, they put yellow mustard either on the bread or in the salad, so I put it in the salad. Tastes great. I used refried Beans, too. I pulverized some chunky salsa in the blender, mixed it into the beans, nuked a dessert dish portion in the microwave and put Kraft fat free shredded cheese on it to melt after it came out. I could have instant mashed potatoes, so I would make them and divide into portions, then heat some fat free gravy to put on it.

I'm confused, my book from the doctor says no hard boiled eggs on "mushy" stage... but egg salad is pretty mushy... do you think it means no "dry" boiled eggs? I don't know why I'm asking about them now, after eating a Salmon burger for lunch that was definitely not mushy... but I chewed and chewed and chewed!! 18 grams of Protein for it and I was full when I was done!

They are probably concerned about you swallowing rubbery chunks of egg white. If you mash it all well with a fork and make egg salad I think you would be okay -- but if in doubt, clear it with your doc.

Gosh Mushies are sounding really great right now :Dancing_wub: .....only 5 more days of Full Liquids!

I was done on 11/5 as well, so we're in the same boat! I dream of the day next week when I can have some tuna salad, soft fish, or some eggs! Heck, anything that requires me to chew would be nice.:Dancing_sorry:

When I was on mushies I liked to get the deviled ham in the little cans and mix it with a little mayo and a tiny bit of dill relish..YUMMY!

It was only a few ounces but it was so filling to me at that time.

I get my first fill November 21st and can't wait.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
