choldren 0 Posted August 19, 2005 My surgery date is Aug. 24th with Dr. Ortiz in MX. I haven't gotten real nervous yet but I don't think it has sunk in yet that I'm really going to do this. Other than having 2 babies, i've never been admitted to the hospital for anything so I imagine when it comes right down to it I will be a wreck! I wish they would just knock me out before i leave my hospital room so I won't see the Op Room. I know, I'm a big baby. Time is getting closer so hope to have some good vibes from the great people on this board. Thanks so much! Carolyn

We just have to remember that this is a new begining for us. And its a good thing. Think of all the great things we will be able to do with our kids afterwards.. Thats what keeps me going.. Good luck to you.. Amy

Margo 0 Posted August 20, 2005 I am back and banded!!!! I love my band already!!!! The surgery was smooth....I don't even remember being asked to "count backwards", don't remember recovery all at, first thing I remember is being wheeled into my room and saying "hello" to my husband, daughter and mother!!! I had wonderful nurses, left the hospital the following day at about 2 p.m. Only take my pain meds at night, sleeping in recliner yet, but thinking about trying my bed tonight. Not too interested in eating, but I am getting tired of the "sweet" tastes of the clear liquid diet. I am looking so forward to Cream of Wheat on Wednesday!!! I hope all the other August Bandsters have pleasant surgery experiences and quick recoveries....I feel blessed.
weightshaker 12 Posted August 20, 2005 Hey, I got back late last night, my surgery also went very well. I can't believe I don't have pain, but lots of gas, but no gas pains. I love my band too!!:cheeky Dr. Rodriguez in Monterrey was great, I would go there again in a heart beat. He did remind me that I have to work w/the band. HE said "Don't think you have to be so tight, it causes too many problems, eat healthy, and get a fill when needed, and unfilled if it is too tight, it is not worth losing the band by being too tight." Sounds good to me. Hey Margo, glad you are doing well also. Shelley

StartingOver 6 Posted August 20, 2005 Welcome home Shelley. I'm glad to hear that everything went well in Mexico. Isn't Dr. Rod the greatest? I'm trying to convince my mom to have surgery with him - she was impressed by him when they met at the hospital during my surgery. Again, congratulations and welcome to bandland!
