I had my pulmonary function test on Thursday last. It took about 20 minutes. Basically I had to breath into a tube and the measure a bunch of things. They coach you through the whole thing.

It's stuff like: normal breathing, ok deep breath, super deep, super deep, let it all out. And variations on that. It tests your lung functions.

When I met w/the anestheiologist, he looked at the numbers and charts and that was it.

In regards to a sleep apnea test -- I have no idea. I don't have sleep apnea so they didn't test me.

On your signature - it says you've had 3 cardiac tests -- what kind were those? Except for my ekg - I didn't have anything. I wonder why? It's so odd how some docs order some tests and others don't.

I dont think i have sleep apnea.. i was just wondering what more things they will try to make me due ....../ thanks for your response

I guess the sleep apnea test depends on the surgeon and pulmonologist requirements. For me, both dr's required this so it was necessary. I also thought it was a waste of time, however found out that I do have sleep apnea after the test was done. So it's not necessarily a bad thing always good to know.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
