plh2u 0 Posted November 10, 2008 How do they work around that? is it a problem? do they schedule around it?
msjessy 0 Posted November 10, 2008 I was 'fortunate' enough to have my period start the day before surgery. They will not reschedule, and no its not a problem for the Nurses. You'll just have to let them know and they will help you if you need it. They just stuck a pad between my legs, but I've read on threads here that some wore tampons or were able to keep their underwear on. You'll just have to ask when you get in there for the surgery. When I met with the operating room Nurse before the surgery, she said that the pre-op diet can help bring on your period, even if its not due for another week or so. I fell into this category. I wasn't due for at least 5 days and I got it the night before surgery. Good Luck.

Divamom 1 Posted November 10, 2008 I was on my period-- and mine are hell. They just had me wear a pad for surgery, then after I put a tampon in, it hurt my tummy and shoulder to do it but I got it done---I HATE PADS. It was a inconvience, but not much more than usual. Good luck.
Chrisann 0 Posted November 12, 2008 They had me wear a large hospital pad and hospital stretchy underwear because if they got any blood or anything on them, they could be thrown out. But it wasn't an issue during surgery. It became an issue all night after because the nurses were monitoring my Fluid intake and discharge and it was difficult for them to take an accurate reading. Texasgirl1966 0 Posted November 14, 2008 I was wondering about what they would do. I had 2 periods last month :thumbdown:so I really don't know when I'll have my period this month. I'll just bring supplies with me just in case. Thanks for the input everyone.
jsdwellsnme 0 Posted November 26, 2008 Im having an ablation done in the next few weeks so Im looking at either no periods or very lite ones Thank goodness, I would hemmorage on the table otherwise!
HeatherO 7 Posted November 26, 2008 I had mine the day after and it was no big deal. You are still able to get up and about after surgery, so either tampons or pads are easy to replace every so often.
HarleyGirl 1 Posted December 1, 2008 I literally started DURING surgery......go figure! Like everyone else, it wasn't a big deal.....first time in a long time that I didn't notice the cramps!
