Surgery story

Recommended Posts

I wrote up my experiences from my hospital stay, and entered them into two blog entries, since the story is too long to enter into a thread. Click on Blog Entries under my name if you'd like to read about it.

Also, I can't get the ticker factory code to work right anymore. Any suggestions?

Oh my gosh! I have never laughed so hard while feeling so bad for anyone in my whole life. You have a total gift for words.

When you finally "got the deed done" I almost cheered!

I am so glad that you made it and that you have such wonderful support. That is what will help us to succeed.

Pray for me. My turn is Tuesday (Nov. 11) morning bright and early. I am hoping my nether regions stay out of the picture!

Congrats on being a bandster!

I'm glad you liked my story. I wanted it to be humorous, just to let people know we can get through this without such dread. The surgery itself didn't seem that big of a deal to me. Best of luck to all of you.

Thanks for posting that!

Which hospital did your banding? I'm being done at Sparrow in Lansing.

I was at Royal Oak Beaumont. Despite of the rantings in my email, they are really at top notch hospital. Extremely efficient and friendly.

Oh my GOSH what a great blog--so funny! What else can we do to you to get another funny story?

Edited to add:

I forgot to mention how sweet the things you said about your wife and family were. It made me a little misty! "I laughed, I cried..."

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
