Being Banded July 29th

Recommended Posts

I am 33 y/o am 5' 2" and weigh 303. I am proud of that weight, because I have lost 24lbs since September 2003. (I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, sleep Apnea and Morbid Obesity.) I have also battled High Blood Pressure since late high school. I am scheduled for surgery July 29th at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD. Dr. Reynolds will be performing the procedure. (Dr. Haley his supervisor will also be assisting if needed.) I am very excited, but nervous, like on my wedding day! Thanks for all the helpful information and sharing. I am so glad I found this forum!

I added you to the July bandster list, I am being banded on the 28th. The list is on the support board, maybe you would like to connect with others that have been banded around the same time as you. Good luck and I hope you have a fast recovery~Mandy

:kiss I will be banded on Sept. 12. I'm 358 pounds. I quit smoking 4 years ago this Aug. 15th and in 4 years I have gained over 100 lbs. I thought I would feel better after I quit but now I have so many more problems. I'm scared and happy about the banding. I tried so many diets and they or I failed. I have rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure and I feel like I am 100. I hope all goes well and it is good to read all of your victorys. Thanks

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
