Hang in there Debbie - you're doing great even without a lot of restriction. I've only had one fill so far, turned down the chance of a second at my last visit because I didn't want to not be able to eat at Christmas (some of my family don't know I had the band) and then I couldn't eat anyway because I was sick. I get my next fill on Tuesday. It takes a lot of "will power" some days to stay the course, but you've made it this far, and I'm willing to bet you can keep up the good work. :crying: Simone

Funny, just when you think you don't need this site, you have a bad weekend and you realize you need the support of people who understand. Thanks so much Simone. It is really hard right now. I am not eating things I shouldn't, but I am eating ALL my allowed Snacks. Well I wanted slow, I have it now. :frown: Debbie

Hi guys-

I have lost 33 pounds since surgery.

The holidays were not easy, but I lost one pound instead of gaining 5-10 pounds. YEAH!

Hi All. It is nice to come back and see how others banded the same time are doing. I struggled through the holidays too, but didnt gain. I'm losing slowly and sometimes get frustrated, but I know if I exercised more I'd have more success. Soo.. it's kind of my own fault! My total weight loss is now 32 pounds. I was hoping to hit 40 by my 40th birthday, but I don't think I'm going to make it. (Jan 5th) I'm getting there though..

:tt2: I officially hate my scale! :cool2: I think it has it out for me! I don't know why, haven't I always avoided it at all costs over the years to prevent it from experiencing damage? After all, for years I went to great lengths to stay off of it, preventing it a lot of needless pain that might have been caused by my increasing size. Shouldn't it be a little gratefull!

Maybe it got lonely :crying:, or maybe it isn't use to all the attention I have shown it lately . Wouldn't you think it would be grateful that I weigh a whole lot less and it doesn't cry :) everytime I step on it?!?!?

I mean really, why can't we just be friends.

Well, it it is going to treat me that way, I think I shall just make friends with my mirror :rose:. We have been strangers far too long. And for the first time in my life I kind of like what I have been seeing lately....

A little tonge in cheek :ciappa: to brighten your day. Hope it brought a smile to your face. :grouphug:

I have lost over 60 pounds! I cannot believe the change in me! Take care Debbie

Down 20 lbs. :)

I have had some family set

backs which affected diet and exercise. Husband had a cardiac arrest in November, then to finish the year (everything in 3s), my father-in-law passed away on the 30th of Dec. :crying:

Thank goodness for a new year!

Dr. says I am on track for the weight loss with being a low BMIer. Back to exercising in the gym 5 days a week, riding my English Pleasure horse on both Sat & Sun, and cleaning the barn 6 days a week (need a day off once a week). Need to start riding the other show horse this week. :cool2:

:scared2: back to work for me.

Dotti

Dotti, I'm very sorry to hear all about your family difficulties, and I hope your husband is recovering well. My condolences to you for the loss of your father-in-law.

It's great that you're getting back on the horse, so to speak.

***I'm down 40 lbs!!***

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
