 I have been getting "stuck" a lot this week. My last fill was a lil over a month ago. I can still eat and still drink fine... most of the time! but like I said, I have gotten stuck like 5 or 6 times this week. I guess I'm just wondering if I am getting too comfy with my band and I need to slow down?? If I eat super extra slow I don't have any issues, but it also seems like I have been eating and chewing the same way I always have since I have had my band (but I guess you never really realize what your doing until it's done). I'm just freaking out that I'm messing up my band-- I definitely don't want that to happen!!! Also I was wondering if maybe I'm just a lil too tight?? but I had my last fill over a month ago and it's been fine. Should I go on liquids and mushies for a couple days??? Sorry for all of the babble, just freaked out!

Having my own experience with wonderful food being stuck and to the point I barf it back up, I think that stuck food irritates your pouch just enough to make it more likely for food to get stuck. My doctors office requires a 24 hour liquid fast when that happens.

Also, remember not only do you need to chew your food really well but that you actually MUST eat like you are in slow motion when you keep getting food stuck.

Try a 2 day liquid and soft food days and slow down. You should be fine. Also, contact your doctors office if it keeps happening.

You probably are not to tight if most of the time your okay. Do you notice it is with particular foods? Maybe there are some you just can't eat. Sometimes my band seems to tighten up after exercise, during certain times of the day or month. Just keep track of the similarities you have when you get stuck. But if it keeps up maybe you might want to get just a smidge taken out. Good Luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
