hey all, it's been quite awhile since I've touched base. Went to Holland, MI and had a flouroscopic done, he filled me with 1cc and am now at 5cc with 5 remaining. Problem is, I felt very good restriction for a month, and now am feeling no restriction whatsoever, bummer:frown: Has anyone ever experienced a leak in the band itself or am I just being silly and jumping to unnecessary conclusions. I don't like the fact that I have no restriction because it makes it that much easier to sway from my goal. Any advice would be surely appreciated. Hoping all of you are having great success!

I felt that every month for the first 5 or 6 fills. I'd start off good and then it would get loose. It was a combination of getting used to the tightness and losing fat on my stomach making it looser, like a belt. Just sounds like time for a fill to me.

Yes indeed, that's what it sounds like to me, too. Restriction isn't a 'fixed' point...as you continue to lose weight, your stomach too loses it's fat coating and therefore the band gets loser. Hence getting fills to regain that feeling of restriction....until you hit maintenance (or so I've heard). Haven't reached that point, so Im not sure, but it makes sense to me.

Another thing I've heard is that it also loses up to .5 in 6 months just to evaporation. Not sure how it works but it does seem to make sense.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
