How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

Hi Sabrina,

I was banded on Nov 3 and I am learning that I need to get big quantities of Protein in first thing in the morning. I use Wheybolic 60 grams from GNC and make a chocolate shake of 4 oz Water, 1 big scoop of Wheybolic and i scoop of powdered Vitamins that I also got at GNC. I drink it in 2 portions - 2 oz and then 30 minutes later 2 oz. If that isn't enough, I eat low fat Activia or drink 2 - 3 oz of a low fat smoothie. If the hunger persists I hit it hard at lunch time again. By supper I am in good shape.

I don't know if this will work for you, but I don't think we should have to be hungry either. Might be a good idea to call your doctor.

Good luck!

Gypsy girl

Sabrina, I was banded on the 6th and I to am so hungry. I have been sipping slowly on my broth (yuk) and gartorade.

Ice chips have also helped. Watching tv makes it worst for me. Never paid attention to how many food spots there are.

Hello Bandsters,

I was banded on Monday November 3, 2008, so it’s been a full week. I can report that I had serous gas pains since Wednesday, but today I feel a lot better, and both ends are working. I still have a little tenderness at the surgery wounds, but no pain. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but we picked a bad time of the year to get banded. My Birthday is tomorrow, the 11th, and Thanksgiving is right around the corner, good grief. I’ve been on liquids for good month, and I am praying that my Doc puts me on mushy foods this Wednesday. Does anyone have any great ideas for Birthday treat; I can have puddings, Jell-O’s, and yogurts. Oh yes, other question. I see tickers and other info on the blogs, how do you install them?

Thanks, and good luck to everyone.

RBK.

Well tomorrow is my surgery day, November 11 in the morning. I lost 15 pounds on the pre-op diet and I am hoping that was enough to shrink my liver to do the procedure. I just don't want them to open me up and then I wake up in the recovery room without my Band.

Wish me luck and I will check in over the weekend.

TQUAD64,

I learned from my surgeon that losing a minimum of ten pounds is absolutely necessary, one to shrink your liver, and two that your stomach is lose and not tight or firm. A lose tummy will help in recovery with less pain from what I understand. I guess it makes it easier for the surgeon to move around when doing the procedure.

Good luck.

I was banded Monday, Nov. 3 - One week ago today. I am feeling great - no pain, no gas, no soreness. I began exercising on Saturday. Felt REALLY good.

I have been eating creamed Soups, apple sauce, yogurt, etc. - what my Doc calls phase II diet. I have felt no resistance from the band, nor have I had any negative reaction in any way. I even tried chili... and no problems!

Actually, I have been wondering if the band is actually accomplishing anything at this point. All of the restrictions on the intake have been imposed by the Doc and/or by me!

Anyone else feel similarly?

went to my first postop visit today and the week before surgery and the first week of surgery, I lost 22 lbs!!!. I don't have to do liquids anymore! ince I don't have my new band filled and did very well with my diet, I could go ahead and eat my soft foods just to avoid foods with seeds, no skins ( like peel tomatoes and suff) and chew chew chew until it turns to smush. my first fill will be in 3 more weeks. Good luck to all!!!

The first 3 days were the worst for me. I was in so much pain and so hungry I thought I'd chew my own arm off. I am still having some gas pains, and not so hungry. I lost 8 lbs in 5 days so that's awesome. I know it'll be worth it and yes liquid diet SUCKS!!!

I didn't think my band was helping me at all since I didn't have the nausea, was able to stop my pain meds on day two and always starving. After my visit today, I was told since they did not fill the band surgery day, my feelings were normal. When I was told to move to phase two of soft foods, the first thing I did was eat my 4oz cup of soft foods. It took about 60 minutes to eat . After 8 hours of eating my new foods, I'm still full:tongue2:. Maybe if your doc would upgrade your food you could see the difference. Good Luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
