dd, I have the same problem. I had to run to the restroom at the restaurant last nite due to chicken breast. I keep on trying though....how dumb is that???? Its hard to find Protein without eating chicken. I am getting a fill today and I hope to hit my sweet spot after 8 months. Has anyone else been that long getting to their sweet spot? It really makes the loss slow and pretty much on your own. Good thoughts to all!

Glammaw -

I have not yet reached my sweet spot. And I have absolutely no food item that gives me any trouble (yet) !

Next fill scheduled 7/30/09.

SLAP ME NOW!!!! I did it again. I figured maybe yesterday was just and unusually "tight" day. So what do I do? You guessed it, chicken AGAIN:eek:!!! That's it, I am officially divorcing chicken as of this moment!

For those of you having chicken troubles. I have found that braising the chicken works best. The long, slow cooking tenderizes the chicken to the point it melts in your mouth.

Have a great day everyone!

Whazzup Notorious Novembers!

Haven't been here in a bit, so checking in and catching up...

Hi all you behaving and losing Notorious novembers. You are all doing so well. I need some motivation. I haven't lost or gained much since I was here May 12th.

I trust you are doing well now - didn't I see a later message that you are losing again? If so, congrats...if not - now's the time! :)

I totally agree with you 100%!! And this morning I went to the gym and "ramped it up a bit" I worked out for 1 hour, rode 8miles on the bike and done some weights! I need to get this moving....I think my problem is eating the wrong things! What will you be doing differently? Let's sound off about this!

For me, it's drinking more Water - I think I've gotta give up the Coke Zero, though I do water it down...plus I've gotta stop with the 'sliders'. I love original flavor Bugles - and just a small bag won't do, so I've gotta cut those out completely!

Hey banded notorious Novembers,

We should start our own recommitment challenge for one month to kick start our weight loss and refocus.

What are three band rules and/or other weight loss strategies that you would like to recommit to?

What are you going to recommit to for the next month?

I'm in...see above...

I'M IN!!! My three things are:

1. Start my running/exercising again

2. Dont drink with meals

3. Make better food choices: more Protein and veggies and less carbs!!!

Woo Hoo! Lets do this!

My starting weight is 198!

Go Tkl! I'm doing well with my walking, but getting ready to step up to running. My DH is encouraging me to run with him so we'll BOTH get stronger and slimmer. Gotta buy some good running shoes - my walking shoes just don't do it...

I get unbanded in the morning thankfully-want my life back. I have lost 30 lbs and will do the rest on my own. All I eat is Soup and ensure and it's boring after a while. No more throwing up for me.

I saw your update, Mom2two, and I'm glad you are out of pain and have had your band removed. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that - please check in and let us know what you're up to...hopefully you'll see this...

ok, so i just had to share because i am very excited. so this morning i get on the scale and it says 189, and i swear i get off and get back on again like 3 times, 189, 189, 189. i almost had a heart attack! i mean i am no where near being done with my weight loss but to be 9lbs away from losing 100lbs was and still is a total mindf* (excuse my language, but no other excalmitory phrase would do). it's like i can see the forrest through the trees. i am just so excited. i just had to share!!!

Go DD go! That's totally AWESOME! I can't wait until I get into Onderland...

Hey DELIVERED and the rest of your recommits out there. How are you doing on your three item list? So, far I've done all three, since I started again. Are you ready for a laugh? I just ate spicy chicken and vegetables and it was so spicy, but I'm sitting hear with my mouth and lips burning instead of getting a drink. NO MORE CHEATING FOR THIS GIRL. And the added benefit is from 7/7/09 to today I've lost a whopping 6.2 Pounds. Wheeew!!!!!! Thank one and all for their recommit support. I'm waiting to hear all your good reports.:)

I thought I'd seen this message - congrats 2-Lose! You've got more fortitude than I, girlfriend...I can't do spicy food - I hate that lip burning stuff!

I havent been on this forum in a long time. I am 7 months pregnant so I was discouraged about the whole thing. Im glad to see everyone is doing so well. My baby is due on September 21, 2009 and I cant wait to get back to the gym after that. The good thing is I havent gained 1 pound. And the baby is growing just fine.....so I guess there is light at the end.....

Congrats on having a healthy pregnancy! One of the other LBT members, Losingjusme, chronicled her pregnancy with the band. She may still be on the forum, but if not, a search will bring up her messages if you're interested in someone's story. I hope all goes smoothly and well with the rest of your pregnancy, and your baby will have a healthy, happy mommy!

When will I learn...OOOOO When will I learn? 8 months post op and chicken breast is still my enemy :wink2:

It's not just you...chicken has been giving me trouble the past few days...just gotta say NO!

Glad to be back on the thread...I missed y'all! I'm doing okay - was stuck on a plateau at 215 for a couple of weeks, bouncing up a pound or two, then back down. For some reason since I returned from a week's vacation in Florida and Virginia, my band "Jillian" has been very tight. Nearly everything has been coming back or seeming to sit right at the top of the band forever.

Today I'm on liquids (protein shakes) to see if something I did caused some swelling and see if it will resolve itself. If not, and I continue to have trouble, I'll schedule a visit with my doc.

I'm happy because I'm down to a size 16W in most clothes - and there definately IS a difference between the 16W and size 16's! I bought shorts for my vacation at Old Navy in a size 16 and cried in the dressing room when I tried them on...I haven't worn a 16 since high school!

I'm pretty steady on exercise, but as I mentioned above, I'm going to start running with my DH and see if that helps kick-start my losses again. I'm nearly at the halfway point and see why some people get to the 50 - 70% lost mark and stop. I could happily live at a size 14 or 16 for the rest of my adult life, but I'm not going to stop now.

I am DETERMINED to make it to my 100% goal of losing 115 pounds - that would put me at 150 lbs. I'm 5' 10" tall, so I don't want to get TOO skinny...I'd much rather be muscular and tight than the 'skinny fat' I see some women as.

Hang in there, all you Notorious Novembers - I'm right there with ya!

Okay Friends---How do you deal with this one. I live at the beach and everyone comes to visit in th summer. Not to go to the beach but eat at the "Calabashes" The all you can eat seafood buffets. I want to spend time with them and resolve not to eat the no no's but the dessert bar is killing me. How would some of you handle this?

Hi 2-Lose!

Tough situation...can someone else go up and get your plates so you are not tempted?

Alternatively, make yourself a promise that unless you eat an ENTIRE plate of band-friendly food (a regular dinner plate) that you can't have any 'sliders' (normally where Desserts fit)...hopefully that won't make you stuff yourself and then you wouldn't have room for the desserts...

I don't know if I'd be able to resist - but if you are full, maybe the threat of a PB will hold off the dessert hungries?

That is a tough one. I know I went out to lunch today and they have bakery pastries. I had to say Satan be gone and not look at them:lol: I would be right there with ya on the desserts. Maybe you can find one that is your absolutely, over the top favorite and have just a sliver of that. Or would that send you into a carb binge? I had to pass up everything today because if I start I cannot stop. For me, it is better not to start. Just think how everyone would admire your willpower when they are stuffing their faces and you stay back. Only you know what you can do. For me, it is all or nothing :)

OMG!!! I used to live in Myrtle Beach, and I LOVED the calabash shrimp! I had forgotten about it!!! I want some!!!

Okay, got that out of my system...Two things you can do... Go with them, fix your plate, including a small serving of dessert, and don't go back! This means you have to be very picky about what you put on your plate, and ONLY pick the VERY BEST dessert on the buffet (and only ONE).

Or, if you're burnt out on "Calabash", eat before you go, and just have a glass of tea while they eat. Your guests will understand that with lots of visitors in the Summer you may get tired of eating the same thing all the time.

Good luck!

YAY! I took my daughter shopping for school clothes and just for giggles tried on 16's....and they were too big!!! Bought four pairs of jeans in 14s! I'm with you, haven't been there in ten years!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
