How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

I haven't lost any weight since January 5th. I've gotten into a weird, nasty, habit. I've started to stay up very late at night on the internet (porn, JK!) til about 3, 4, 5 a.m.. When it's the middle of the night, I feel like I'm in a different world and nothing matters. I end up eating crazy stuff, like honey and sugar right out of the bowl. Then the whole next day I have a "hangover". It's not every night, but often enough to really screw up my body and my psyche.

Okay, Jaime. I'm ready to have my ass kicked now. :w00t: Seriously, it's okay. I can't believe I've gone through all of this time and pain, not to mention money, just to indulge in this behavior. I need to get my butt in bed at 11:00, so that I can wake up in the morning and still be okay.

I haven't talked about it much, because I feel like I'm the only one that is screwing up this badly. I'm afraid that I'll be written off as "one of those" that is just not ready to follow the rules. I don't want to write myself off. I don't want to see myself as a lost cause, or an addict that refuses help. I don't want to live like this anymore. Is there a lapband rehab center???

Aww, Ginny. I know what you're going thru. My hubby works till midnight and I, too, had gotten into the habit of staying up (often till about 1 or 2), then have to get up with kids at 630. Although I wasn't eating too much bad stuff, I was eating more, I think because I was tired, so I ate to spike my blood sugar and stay awake. It was AWFUL breaking that habit of staying up late. I'd go to bed at 10 and just lay there.

I still have issues with having a "bad day" here or there, where I eat something stupid, like white pasta--and I can see a difference on the scale for the next couple of days. It's very difficult for me to give up the white stuff--but I keep trying. So, don't beat yourself up, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get on with it. Everyone has a bad day here and there and you shouldn't chastise yourself. Just move on. I know you can do it!

Glad to hear everyone is well!! I am doing ok but a little frustrated. I know we shouldnt compare ourselves but I was banded 11/10 I have had 3 fills, I am up to 6.5 in a 10cc band. I have restriction and I am really not eating too much and I have been working out daily but the scale is not moving. I am down to sizes when it comes to my clothing but yet the scale doesnt move. Any thoughts??

You're gaining muscle and losing fat! Muscle weighs more than fat. Have you taken your measurements? It's a great NSV.

Lacasst,

You stats are wonderful!! Congrats! :w00t:

I had my first fill last Friday and I can really feel restriction...especially in the morning. My scales said I'm down 30lbs as of this morning. I'm very happy with that.

I've only exercised 2x this week. I've had a horrible cold that's settled in my chest...now I've just got the cough.

How often do you exercise and what type of exercise do you do?

Hockeyson,

Thanks sooo much for the well wishes! Your stats are great too! As far as exercising I'm kinda ashamed to admit I haven't been as faithful as I should have been.I try to do the treadmill at least 2 to 3 times a week.My surgeon said I need to put in 300 mins. a week.

I atribute the quick results to severely overeating prior to surgery & indulging in Starbucks like everyday.I think I have really good restriction and am not able to eat at all like before surgery.I was soooo ready to do this too.It took me almost 2 years to get approved!!

Good Luck & keep up the great work too!!

Lacasst,

Thank you for commenting on my stats. It took a long time to gain this weight...so I know it's gonna take a while to lose it. I see my band as my "little friend". If I don't chew...lf lets me know...if I over eat...lf lets me know.

I know all about the over eating in the past!! We met a few friends at Fuddruckers last nite. Hubby ordered nachos. Back in the day I could eat the entire plate of nachos! I did eat a few with meat and salsa. I also ordered the boneless hot buffalo chicken. I had 2 then was finished!! I cut them up into small pieces and chewed, chewed, chewed.

I ate the chicken first then the nachos....brought the rest of the chicken home and my teenage son ate them when he got home from work. He didn't even realize I'd ordered them as a meal because there was an entire container of the chicken in the fridge. He thought I'd ordered them just for him!

Have you thought about exercise DVD's? I have about 20 of the Walk Away the Pounds. She's very chatty but I change them up and really enjoy them. I'm now up to the 3Mile ones which are 40-45 minutes in length.

Aww, you all think I'm just someone who waltzes in here to give you hell and then leave. I'm not going to yell at you, as I've been struggling myself and really there's no point in yelling or giving stern advice on here. We're all adults and will do what we please.

I pray that you get back on track, just as I pray that I can get back on track as well. :cheers2:

No, Jaime, I don't think that at all! I always get something good out of your posts. I see you as someone that is capable of being very honest with yourself and others. I also love your enthusiasm and commitment to making this work. I've seen you help lots of people with supportive words and ideas. Especially Protein Shake recipes, mmmmmm.

I was referring to an old post of yours saying that sometimes people need a reality check instead of molly coddling. Okay, those weren't the exact words, but my middle-aged lady version.

I hope that I didn't make you feel bad. I'm sorry to hear you are struggling. I will pray for you as well.

Hi and glad to hear that everyone is doing so well. I have not been on the computer for several weeks because I fell 2 weeks after I was banded and broke my right arm--I now have a new shoulder. I have been at my daughters for the last few weeks, but I am going home this week. Hooray!! can get back to eating right. I hope to see the numbers start coming down again. I have been unable to exercise --the pain level has been really bad. I have had physical therapy and will soon start outpatient therapy. When I get home I will be able to start using my stationary bike - that will help some.

Sorry to be so long-winded. I have missed keeping up with everyone.:w00t:

Hey Teal,

I have all Leslie Sansones walk away the pounds DVDs. I used before I bought my treadmill. They are great. Even my son use to utilize them.

Thanks for the comment, I had heard that before but thought it was just an excuse. I would sure like to see the scale move more though:bored:

Hello all.....I was banded 11/3 and everthing went well. I bounced back pretty good. I have had 2 fills and those went well....here is the problem. I am not losing...I can eat too much still I have only lost a total of 20lbs and half of that was gained back. I am worried I will be one of those who "failed" with the band. I am making better choices but I can eat as much as I want. I am walking around 20-25 miles a week in addition to my normal routine. I am to get my next fill on 2/3 and I can't wait. I am not sure what I should feel. If I don't chew things well I get them stuck....but other than that I can eat as much as I want...and am still hungry a lot! Please tell me this will get better when we get the sweet spot....I don't want to fail at this....I just don't!

Sunny--

As I'm sure you've read on here, a lot of us have only lost weight the first couple months on sheer willpower alone. If you're getting things stuck, then you have some restriction. I still feel like I'm eating too much, even though the scale continues to drop. Here's what my Dr. and Nutritionist told me. Don't eat more than a cup. If you are hungry in two hours, eat a half cup of something, then eat your regular cup at the next meal. Don't stay hungry and eat more. And, most importantly, try to recognize if it's head hunger. I'd suggest keeping a food journal. Even though you may feel like you are eating a bunch, when you look at what you eat (write down EVERYTHING), you may realize you aren't really. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! My doc keeps saying to stay focused. I will for sure try the one cup thing...that could be a huge help!

Thanks again!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
