How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

Heather- I probably eat 4-5oz at a time...but I guess I'm still losing. I feel very content after 4-5oz though. I'm hoping to wait a while before my next fill.

Will your Dr do a fill before 28 days? I'm just supposed to call mine when I need another fill they said. Otherwise, I don't have another scheduled check up until Feb 6th.

See, and I don't even know what size my band is? I should just call the office and find out.

I'm going to hold off and not push it up so far I realized i'm only eating three meals a day and at 3-4 oz at a time. I will however will have a Protein Shake after the gym.... so.. it appears I still may be on track. Today I snacked after the gym i burned about 390 calories came home and my tummy was growling after!!! I had to have a little Protein to stop the grubbling.:wink2:

I dont know my band capacity, but I only got 2cc's at my first fill last Monday on the 22nd, and I havent felt full once. I am definitley goning to inquire about its capacity. I am still VERY WORRIED about not having a fill for another 28 days....EXTREMELY worried. Its's to easy to make bad decisions. Im going to try and stay focused, but am anxious to see how much my next fill is, becasue 2cc's isnt cutting it at all !

Why do you have to wait 28 days? I just went in today for a fill and scheduled my next one for next tuesday. They want you to get to your sweet spot as soon as possible. I don't understand why you would wait so long if you need a fill.

My dr. says you have to wait 3 weeks between.. some people have stated that the 2nd weeks you feel more restriction. I had being comfortable @4.

You may want to rethink that. A lot of people have said that after their first fill, they don't feel restriction for up to 2 weeks. Personally, I had my fill and didn't feel a darn bit of difference for a week. Then it just hit me, and I lost 3lbs in one week. So I wouldn't go get that 2nd fill so soon. Wait at least 2 weeks before you do it. You might wake up one morning and find you're so tight you can't swallow Water. Honestly, it kind of scares me that your doctor would allow you to get two fills that close together, because certainly they know how some fills have a "delayed reaction". Just be careful, that's all I'm saying.

I agree, I think a fill after one week would be dangerous. The PA in my doctor's office says it can take up to two weeks after the fill to really know how you are doing. However, it's absolutely your choice. Just make sure you drink some Soup or something before you leave your doctors. My friend had her second fill done too soon (and too much), and drove all the way back home (an hour) and realized she had messed up, was in pain all night and had to go back in the morning to have half of it taken out.

I love this thread!! I was banded on 11/26 and had my second fill today. I now have 6cc's in a 14cc band. I am so glad I actually feel restriction now. I didnt do so well on Christmas but im not going to beat myself up about it. I am so thankful that I now know what restriction feels like. I had a slimfast shake a few hours after my fill and havent had anything since then because I am not hungry. I know I will need more calories than that but I will make myself eat tomorrow. Am I the only one who has an achy stomach after a fill. Right now my tummy is sooo sore.

Hey this here girl is doing great. I never really feel hungry, so that is great...No insulin Shots any more. I am taking some glucophage, but I don't mind that so much. What I do hate is the ground up meds that I still take.

As you can see I am still losing. I watch what I eat. I have eaten Hamburger meet, Pork chop, Fish, chicen and cooked Vegies. I ate Turkey at Christmas, A tablespoon of mashed potato, sweet potato, and green Beans. I have not tried bread, but that is ok. My chocolate, and vanilla Protein Powder in my coffee, is still a great stand by for me...Yogurt for snack. I also have done Almonds (8) for a snack also. I used to never Burp and I do so now. I can handle that also. I am so afraid of getting stuck or to full and then have to throw up. But as Happy as a Lark with my weight loss.

That is a great website. I to am hooked on the flavored coffee's. I also use the unflavored Protein powder. Unjury sells it. For use in my herbal tea's. I have not tried the chai tea's yet, but I am going to.

Did they use a fluoroscope to locate your port? My PA sprayed me with topical anesthesia and located my port with the machine and stuck it bullseye first time. I never felt anything, except once he got it in the port, it kind of wiggled and tickled and made me laugh. I don't have any pain today either. I asked him about it beforehand, told him some of the stories on here, and he said a lot of doctor's just stick and stick until they find it. I think if that were the case I'd be marking that bad boy with a magic marker so next time, they'd know.

yes the first fill was with Fluro and he gave me a shot of Lidocaine before trying to find my port. I think next time I may tattoo a heart over my port ( lol) so he knows exactly wear it is because boy it was tough the first tiem took 4x to find that bad boy!!! I go on the 23rd hope it goes better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
