You have to realize you have a larger band therefore it is going to take longer to get good restriction. It also seems like your doctor is being very conservative with how much he/she is giving you each time. I only have a 9cc band and my doc gave me 4ccs the first fill. Ask for a more aggressive fill next time.

I too really really struggle w/not much restriction. I have had 5 or 6 fills and am at 8cc (I have a Realize band) and still feel vague restriction.

I am really really trying to stay optimistic..I have only lost 15 lbs since surgery. We just have to continue to ask for fills until we get to that beloved "sweet spot."

Kat- I have so appreciated many of your posts and feel that I often relate to what you say.. we are close in age/weight/ and band dates...you have Realize too? right? and YES..we can do ALL things through Him who gives us strength!

Blessings on you both...let's keep taking it one day at a time!!

I know how frustrating it is waiting for restriction. It took until my fourth fill to start to feel my band again after the swelling went down from surgery.I gained and lost the same two pounds for a month, followed by another month of no loss but I didn't gain only because I was determined to fake it till you make it.

My doctor reminded me that the average weight loss was a pound a week so at the end of a year I was only expected to lose 50 pounds so at this point I was ahead of the game and I just needed to work on portion size and chewing.I was also told to drink as much Water as I could to help me stay full and to keep the fat well hydrated and I would feel more restriction .At last I have found restriction again and lost 4.5 pounds last month so I hope I am on way down again.Just try to stay focused and keep going back for fills until you get where you need to be.Doctors are cautious because they do not want to over fill you and maybe cause harm to you or your band. There is no magic formula as to how much fill we need as we are all different and what works for you may be too much for me.Good luck and hang in there your day will come and you will start losing weight, you didn't get fat in a few months and you cant expect to get thin in a few months.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
