Filled and ready to looooose

Recommended Posts

Well I am back from Florida and had a fill on Monday. It was no pain at all!! Had it done at the hospital and I was very suprised at how quick and painless:-) Can feel the restriction when I drink; can't take the big gulps that I used to could. Ready to loose more weight. Hopefully I can get all the fills in before the new year since my insurance is covering 100%. My deductible and out-of-pocket has been met. I have not lost any more weight; but am loosing inches....really weird. How does this happen? Hope all is well with all the losers and soon to be losers. Love this board!!!!!!!!!! Everyone Keep up the good work.

Congrats! Glad your experience was basically boring. lol

How long were you told to be on liquids after, if at all? Since this is your first fill, just be aware that they can "kick in" 2 to 4 weeks out, so don't freak if you're suddenly a lot tighter than you were right after your fill. Mine take about 4 weeks for some reason.

Isn't losing inches more important, anyway? Just more of a pain to measure. :o

Hey Bandsister!!

Congratulations on your first fill, and good luck with the kickstarting! I'm having my first fill next week, on Thursday. I haven't lost any more weight either, still hovering at 17-19 lbs down, and it was a trick to convince the doctor that I really wanted a fill. (That may be a topic for another thread.) But I'm really looking forward to it and to getting on with the journey.

I'm so glad to hear it was painless. I'm going to the hospital too, and am a little nervous. You make it sound easy! :o

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
