Hi Ann,

I guess the grapevine works really well. This is big news to some people you have told and they could't keep it to themselves. If you ask your friend who told her, she may feel under some sort of pressure. I wouldn't bother. Don't get upset by it.

For my part, everyone who knows me has seen me lose weight over the last year and has asked how I did it, so I told them. No big deal. They know what I went though before I had the band - diets, pills etc. - and they know they weren't successful for me. They're just happy for me and very supportive.

If you felt that you should not tell your family that's your choice, but I guess that it's almost impossible to keep something like this quiet for any length of time. If I were you I'd tell everybody and if they have a problem with it, well that's their problem, not yours.

I think if anyone asks me if I have had a band fitted I would be honest and say yes, but I would never tell people. The only people in my life who know are my wife, mum and step father.

thanks for replys

I went into town yesterday. has someone say that someone else had said I bet she had surgery. then someone else commented on weight loss.

so looks like i might have to fess up. but only if they ask.

as when I was younger my dad always said if you don't ask you don't get.

so they can keep all wondering hehe!!!!!

its took me 1 year to lose 4 stone. so its not like its happened over night!!!!!!!!!

told the one who commented to my face that I have been swimming regually and walking more and biking.

as last year couldnt do these things as back was bad and was in wheelchair. so im extra determind to do it!!

excuse spelling

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
