Small or large band?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering how does the doctor decide which band to give you, the 4cc or the 10cc. I was told it goes by your hieght. Is this true?

My doctor said he changed to the 10cc band because his research told him it had less complications. Now that he's been using them, he said that for him, it is indeed true. With the 4cc he saw more complications.

I am 5'5" and my doctor placed a 10cc band in me. I asked for the 14cc band, but she felt that it was not necessary.

I have a 4cc band. My doctor said that it depended on the size of the stomach once he got in there.

I have a 4cc band. My doctor said that it depended on the size of the stomach once he got in there.
That's what I was told,I have a 10cc band with a 9cc fill level. 6 other people got banded the same day I did and all were given the 10cc but their fill level was only 4cc. When I question the Doc on why I had the same size band and had such a higher fill level he explained my stomach was larger. so you need to know not only what size band you have but what your fill level is. He gave each of us a card with this info on it to keep in our wallets at all times.

I am 5'1 and I have the APS 10cc band. My doctor also told me that it is based on your stomach size as to what size band you get.

I have a 10cc band. I wonder if the actual size of the band and the amount that it holds are different things. My surgeon told me that I have the smallest size band because I had very little fat around my stomach I( or something like that) and he showed me my pics/xrays and someone else's to help me understand how little fat I have. It felt good to hear him tell me that but I wished the rest of my body was the same way.

I'm 5'8" and have the 4cc band. I was told it was the better band to have, but I don't know why.

My doc put in the 14cc band. When they got in there he was not going to put the band on me and just close me up due to the fact that my heital hernia was extremely large and he didn't think the band would stay in place. He said the band had to sit where the hernia was. He did give me my band based on the fact that I had worked really hard to get over 50lbs b/4 surgery.

To this day I have had no problems. Had a number of hernias repaired 3 month after band surgery and same doc said band looked great and in position just like it should be.

Have a total of 5.5cc's in band after 2 fills

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
