Support in Charlotte and Surrounding Areas

Just a thought, there's a Denny's at Sunset and I-77. We could do 9:30 and Kim, you could come whenever since you won't be driving all over the world. I think Sunset is Exit 16? so it's not far from the I-77 and I-85 interchange.

So, is it better to meet a little early and have Dianne drive all the way from Waxhaw!!!! Girl, I think NO place is easy for you!! :( then Angie is coming ALL the way up 77, it's no closer then Concord for you! But it might be worth it to meet a little earlier? Earlier is better for me but 11am is fine, too. It will probably be a bit more crowded the later it gets?

Option 1: 11am at IHOP at 485/49 in southwest Charlotte

Option 2: 9:30am at Denny's at Sunset and I-77

Both are great. I pick option 2 as my first choice.

Both dates are the 27th. Let's Vote!!

I had gotten an email from Cammie, while I was away. I replyed but I'm not sure if she got it. When you talk to her please ask her.

Also how do we do information like phone numbers and instant messanger names where the world won't see it?

I'm actually in Wesley Chapel which is next to Weddington. I'm about 10 or 12 miles from Providence Rd and 485.

Are we stuck on ihop? Is it because they have eggs? What about Ruby Tuesdays? Its right at 77/arrowwood, should be easy for kim to get to that day, not too difficult for the rest of us either. They have Soups and stuff like that I believe. The Ihop is near there too. There is a Ihop at 77/woodlawn too that would be easy for everyone to get to as well. Not as far for the concord crowd to go to.

Yes!!!! That's the info I needed! NO! We aren't stuck on IHOP, are we? I can see Ruby Tuesday from the highway, that's PERFECT if we are doing 11am and not 9:30.

What do ya'll say, Ruby Tuesdays, I-77 at Arrowood, 11AM, Saturday the 27th?

Yes?!!!!

Ok I like option 2 because I already have drive all the way to sunset but that is my choice SO if option 1 is it then I am fine with that also. It doesn't matter where we go as long as we are seating, talking, no kids and just plain having fun.

I wonder if the Cammie that emaild you is the same Cammie I know. I talk to her every day and she told me about this site. So now I am not sure if it's the same person or not. My Kami actually spells her name with a K but maybe she used a C..who knows anyway I told the Kami I know about the meeting. As of right now she thinks she will be there. Wow that would be 5 of us...yeah. I haven't told her where we a planning on meeting so I am not sure how far she is wanting to go because she is I think about 15 - 20 miles above me. I will let her deceide. She went to Dr. V's office for the support group there, so maybe she will join us.

Oh desicions...what to do what to do.... hehe.

I agree!! Look, we now have an Option 3. Will option 3 work for you? Does that give you enough time? We can start without you if you don't mind, as long as you can come!

The Cammie who wrote me was very interested in a professional leading a group for us. I've told you guys about my connection right?

The only problem with me going to ruby tuesdays is I love thier onion rings and if we go there i have to have a burger with the onions. Will that be alright with everybody? lol I could have something low fat....

I love Ruby Tuesdays I'm up for anywhere I just wish we didn't have to wait a month.

Option 3 is fine...just tell where and when.

Dianne I wasn't sure if you read the first of this thread or not but Dr. V said he would be willing to start up the support group again for lap-band patients. It's completely free and when I talked to Bobbi his nurse she was excited about it also. I can get something going sooner if you would like she and Angela were going to do a mailing tihs fall. I can call Angela and see if see can do it in Aug for a Sept meeting. It would run by her or Bobbi..which means they could bring in guest speakers and the knowledge of the surgery itself. Let me know what you think and I can get that ball rolling....

Melissa, my boss said she is going to check on sizes for you but she was 99.9% sure they had those sizes. I get Curtis name brand stuff that is like brand new for 1.00 to whole outfits that are 4.00 - 5.00. In my opion it's one of the best ones out there.

Now back to ours...so it's Aug 27th, Ruby Tuesdays @ 11:00 or 11:30?

So where is this place....I know what everyone looks like and I WILL BE THERE... I am so excited. Who that is a whole month away. Can we manage. hehe.

That would be great to start meeting sooner than later! But this communication is also great, so whatever works best

I'm not sure how long it will be before I have my band. Dr. V said that once we get the approval it takes about 3 months.

The reason why I am so excited about Debbie is that in 97 she had her stomach stapled. She chose that because it was the safest way at the time. It was also the slower wieght lose. So she can relate alot with banders.

How about we meet at 11:30 on the 27th. I dought they'd be open much earlier than that.

Ok I'm off to write an article on how to host an elegant thanksgiving meal!

Kim,

You would just go 77 south..take the arrowwood exit and its right at the bottom of the exit ramp. Its pretty new (less than a year I think). Diane I have no promblem with you eating what ya want, and don't think others do either. I mean we all have family members who eat foods that we don't eat. I'm really hoping I"m on my "liquid" diet by then...and If I am I plan to just order a sugar free tea, and chat :).

That sounds great to me. I can do that. I do not care what anyone eats. I have learned that I have to eat what I am suppose to and to feed the children and husband what they need. It isnt that hard and I am not giving into temptation which is a good thing. :)

I will see you all on the 27th at 11:30am! This is going to be great. And I know exactly where Ruby Tuesday is. See you all soon!

Angie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
