one fill.....will this plan work?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on October 24, 2006.......and I've only had one fill due to finances. I have a 4cc band.....but I've not gained weight in two years, but I haven't lost any either. I was wondering if I try to control my eating to 4 meals 1 cup per meal would I begin to lose? I don't think I could do the 1/2 yet without a fill.....maybe this would shrink my stomach enough that I could start to eat like I had a tight band?:rolleyes2:

If you haven't lost any weight, then what's the point of the band? Having an unused tool sitting on a shelf isn't going to get that house remodeled. How much is it for you to get a fill? I understand about the money thing but you have to come up with something. Can you figure out a way to adjust your budget so that you can set aside a certain sum every week/month until you get the amount you need? If all else fails, beg your doctor for a fill. I bet if he/she finds out that you haven't lost any weight since being banded because you couldn't afford to get the fill you needed, he/she would make arrangements with you.

I agree and fortunatley you have a small band so it should not take much....I have a 14cc band so I have to have a ton of fills! Maybe even just one or two will do it for you...can around and check pricing an dyour doc may let you make payments. I pay $125 for a fill, but they give me a month to pay if i need it and longer if i asked i'm sure

Can I ask if you food journal? I think people blame no weight loss on fills, most of the time they need to get honest and realize they aren't doing their part.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
