3 Days Post-Op

Recommended Posts

Hello My Friends,

It's been 3 days since my surgery and I feel good. My surgery was Monday around 2pm and I was in my room by 5, the only thing I remember was my doctor making a joke about having his glasses on and the next thing I remember was them calling my name and me freaking out and swinging my arms around:scared2: but they calm me down and I went back to sleep. I tell you I was drugged up that I couldn't keep my eyes open it was 4am when I can finally was able to keep my eyes open but I had no pain the only problem was everytime they gave me antibiotics I got really nauseated.:bored:The next morning they did my swallow test and blood work and everything came out good so I was able to go home by 2pm. The only problem I had at home was finding a place that I could feel comfy to sit down and lay down. The first night I woke up around 3am with really bad gas pains and body aches that I started pacing around my house like a crazy person but I made me feel better and I got some sleep. On Wednesday the only problem I had was the gas pain and body aches so all I did all day was walk and walk and trust me it helps I haven't been so happy farting in my life!:) lol but it feel so good when you do. Today I feel good gas pains are almost all gone and I started eating a little to see how my body reacts but so far my friends all is good.

Good luck to those who's surgery is soon and I will keep you posted.:)

Thanks for sharing this information, Roxy! It's very helpful for those of us whose dates are coming up....mine is the 19th. If I recall some of your earlier posts, you seemed really ready for your surgery....your head was in a good place. I think that's important. I was supposed to have surgery in September and it was delayed d/t insurance problems. At first I was really upset and angry, but I've come to think all things work out for the best. Right now I feel really ready. I've been doing a preop diet and having no issues sticking to it to the letter. My head is just in a good place. Keep us all updated on your progress!!

Lisa

I noticed the gas pains the most right after eating something. They are caused by pressure on the diaphram, and manifest themselves in the shoulders. The pain medicine helped the most, walking around some helped too, but I didn't have any on my 5th day. So don't fear, they do go away.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
