AllysPC 0 Posted November 6, 2008 Thanks for the reply. My surgeon has said that if it's done on Friday, I should be back to work by Monday. Since I've started a new job, I'm hoping this is the case. But, the more threads I read, this seems unlikely. I'm a social worker and can't miss much work.
AuntieGG 0 Posted November 6, 2008 I had surgery on Tuesday 10/28 and was back to work on Monday 11/3. I probably could have gone back on Friday, but since I had the time off, I just relaxed at home.

DanTheMan 0 Posted November 6, 2008 I was banded on a Monday morning and I drove to and worked Thursday. My commute is 50 minutes one way. I ended up taking Friday off and come Monday I felt pretty darn good. It helps to know that I sit at a desk all day. I also never took any pain meds whatsoever. I also ate a soft scrambled egg Thursday morning.
BillOh 13 Posted November 6, 2008 I guess I'm different in that I am hoping for the full two weeks. My wife was off 4 weeks with the bypass. Part of my recent problem is this is the first time I've had a job that confines me to my desk, but its a very stresfull one. We have lots of turnover, and every experienced employee is extra valuable right now, they will welcome me back after the two weeks, and I could use the rest even without the surgery. taylorgirl1 1 Posted November 6, 2008 Im an RN and scheduled to work Dec 25th, the job isnt very happy if im going to be off then, Im getting banded Dec 15th do you think I should be ok for work then. MD will give up to 3 weeks off if needed but its hard when you have a holiday componant to work and elective surgeries are frowned on around those times. MD will give up to 3 weeks off if needed but its hard when you have a holiday componant to work and elective surgeries are frowned on around those times. I suspect it depends on how much time you'll spend on your feet and how much you have to hustle. After 10 days, from what I recall, I felt pretty good but I also only walk about 200 yards a day--total. I'm not certain if I could have hustled on my feet for an 8 or 10 or 12 hour shift. Of course, I'm assuming it will be an orthoscopic procedure. My surgeon and I discussed the possibility of him having to open me up and we agreed that if, for whatever reason, he couldn't complete it orthoscopically then he wouldn't open me up. I'm fairly instrumental at my place of employment and I could not have taken 2 or 3 or 4 weeks off. As it turns out, everything went fine.
