My reward

Recommended Posts

I've didn't know anybody pierced the cartlidge with a piercing gun. I had mine done a few years ago (I was 43) with a small hoop (plus a couple extra holes in the lobes). Took it out recently though and haven't decided if I want it back again or not.

Congratulations! There are SO many non-food rewards we can give ourselves.

I had mine done ... gosh, 25 years ago, back in the dark ages. I don't currently wear any earrings, although I have been thinking abut it. More shiny things! Gimme glitter!

You are right Darcey, there are so many ways to reward ourselves that don't involve food. It is really hard to get away from food as a reward though.

Does anyone know if navel piercing is okay to with the band? When I get to goal I want to get my navel pierced but I didn't know if that would cause problems. I know it won't hit the band or anything like that I just worry about complications. I have had my nose done 2 differnt times ( I don't have either anymore), I have had my tongue done once (I don't have that either) and my left ear has 18 and my right has 3 in it but I don't wear them all the time like I used to when I was younger. I thought I woudl aski ehre before I called my doctor. I feel kinda of silly calling him and asking this when I know he has more important things to worry about than a navel ring...lol. :)

It should be fine...but I'd wait till after a Tummy Tuck if you eventually plan to have one of those....they move your belly button then. It would not interfer with the band in anyway. I might decide to get sassy and have mine done later :).

My skin so far is seeming to work with me and not sag too much. I work out an hour a day by walking, biking and doing weights. I am crossing my fingers that I won't need a Tummy Tuck. We should all share our piercings....lol. Well, the "G" rated ones anyway...lol. Thanks for the advice. BTW, I am about 8 weeks post op, do you think crunches or sit ups would be okay now? I am too afraid to try. I have 21 piercings but I am afraid of an exercise, go figure....lol.

I started back doing crunches about a week out, and horseback riding 2 weeks out, so yes, crunches are just fine 8 weeks out.

I have that fear of ripping something loose. I know that the odds of that are miniscule but it's like that first bite of real food, it's scary sometimes. :) See, I am really a big chicken at heart...lol. I will start the crunches tomorrow when I work out. I have done my exercise for the day today...lol. Thanks.

I am only 6 weeks post op and my doctor had me do a crunch to help locate my port on Monday when I had my first fill. So you should be able to do crunches, just take it slow at first.

Way to go Girl!!!!!

I got my ears pierced by my Daddy when I was 16. 2 in both ears.(bottom) He used clothes pins and Ice to numb them. Then stuck a needle through!!I can still hear the needle going through! (Yuck) Then he put in the studs. I still have them today! I got the top part of my ear pierced about 10 years ago at a beauty shop. They used a gun.

As fo a tattoo, No way! I love them but am tooooo scared of them.

Why not get a chili pepper? Because you are gunna be one HOT mama!!! :)

I am so happy for you,

I was happy today when my dr told me I could go back to weight lifting at 2 weeks out if I felt like it. The joke is probally on me, since he added the "if you feel like it". LOL

From past weight lost and the state of my tummy now (hanging not sticking out so much...I'm about 95% sure I will need a Tummy Tuck. Part of it is genetics, and mine aren't so great in this area.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
