I agree, my expectation is out of wack. I'm trying to come back to reality and know this will take time.

But, I got to go to the bathroom  (OK, TMI), but I think the flaxseed oil helped greatly, or the plum juice, or the apricot juice. I'm out of the apricot, so we will see if the other two continue to help.

Thanks Bathroom Buddies (gross:frown: title...but funny:lol:)

Thanks for the ideas--I am up for ANYTHING!

I have been taking Miralax, benefiber, AND senna-S with very rare results. Today I just couldn't stand it anymore and bought some milk of mag and took a dose with good results. BUT, it always makes me want to throw up when I take it! NOT a good thing!

Tomorrow, I am heading to the store to buy some dried apricots and, if that doesn't work, flaxseed oil!

I love prunes and they always worked before but NOT now. I will try the apricots. Hope it is a miracle for me also. I even eat shredded wheat every nite for supper but only sometimes does it work.

Miralax works wonders for me. It is a bit expensive, but worth it. (dried fruit can be quite expensive as well) Pooping costs lots of cash apparently!

Hey Folks...I'm smiling because I'm still regular ! When I first tried the flaxseed I thought I would go hard core and just take it like castrol oil (which I've never taken in my life). IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! I ate a sugar free cream-sicle right behind it to get rid of the taste. The next day I put it in my cream Soup. I couldn't taste it at all. (BUT...the smell was slightly there still) I figured I start my muchie food in 2 days and will tough it out and then start eating cooked veggies, which I hope to keep me OK.

I think I will try to stay with the flaxseed though because it is suppose to be soooo good for you. I will say being able to use the bathroom does affect the scale.

Any recommendations on how to take it?

PS...I made veg soup: zucchini (green & ylw), canned tomatoes, celery, grn Beans, onion, mushrooms, carrots and garlic, salt & pepper. Can't wait to eat it tomorrow!!!!

I love Miralax... but it is not cheap. Warehouse clubs are the place to go for that stuff...

BTW- I found a box of dried apricots at Walgreens for $1. That is a deal!

I have been using prunes (Sun Sweet in a can) and thought I would give apricots a try for a change. I do not reacall the name brand but they were in a yellow ziplock type container and boy did I get stuck on them! they are just too dry. I think I'll just stick with my prunes...

Prunes are just not working for me. I tried the apricots for the first time this morning. Just wondering if all the dried apricots have the fuzzy skin on them. This is the first time I have had apricots, dried or fresh and I was not expecting the fuzz still on them. If they had been peeled, the taste would have been great. If anyone has bought the peeled ones please let me know where.

Thanks

Jazie - The apricots I buy are Sun-Maid Mediterranean Apricots...they come in a red zip-top foil pouch and they are just the inside of the fruit, no peel. I bought mine at HEB but I bet they have them at Wal Mart, or other major grocers also. Someone posted that they had a hard time getting them down, but I cut mine into 4 tiny pieces and eat them that way. Good luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
