Thanks for posting the "miracle". My band date is this Tuesday at 7:30am....I'm on an emotional roller coaster right now...I have IBS and pretty much know every bathroom in Maryland!! I'm told banding will also help this problem.

I've been on the lean and green the past few weeks and must say I feel much better.

I just told my husband I'll need apricot's after my two week liquid diet!!

I have IBS. Needless to say, I was surprised by the Constipation that I have had the last week or so. I think it is probably from the extra Protein in my diet. The apricots were a blessing.

So, I stopped the flaxseed oil, I can't handle it. It's gross plain. I've been doing the prunes 2-3 per meal, and it helps. I go every other day. Should we be going to the bathroom everyday? We don't eat as much food as we use to, so I'm not sure how often we should be going to the bathroom.

Hi Susie,

I never would have thought I'd be sharing BM stories with virtual strangers...LOL! I have never asked my doc how often I should be going, but thats a good question. I was as regular as clockwork before my surgery so I never took the time to think much about going, then afterwards when the Constipation set in it became my goal to have a BM at least every other day. I'm sure that due to the reduced volume of food as well as that we are having less fat in our diets, it is probably going to be less frequent than pre-surgery. The apricots have kep me going every day but much less volume.....EWWWW, I know thats gross!!! Even if its only every other day I would be ok with that too. Best of luck to you.

A word of warning, I tried this and it did help, but one day I got a bit of dried apricot stuck for several hours. Don't forget to chew the daylights outta those tough little boogers!

I just bought apricots. We'll see???!!! I pray. I'm up 1.6 lbs and I think it's because of PMS and I CANT FRICKIN' GO TO THE BATHROOM. Annoying!!!

Ok..Anyways, on a positive note, I do have so much more energy since the surgery. i'm not so sluggish.

So, I have no regrets. just learning my new body. :cursing:

One quick suggestion - if the apricots are too tough you can pour a small amount of hot/boiling Water on them and let them soack for a few minutes. That will make chewing and swallowing alot easier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
