Yoko262 0 Posted November 5, 2008 Hi everyone I am from the UK and had my lap-band fitted in Belgium - it has been 4 weeks since my op and I have lost 12 lb since I had this fitted - this includes the week of low fat yogs before the op - so 5 weeks in total which is really good - however for the past two weeks I have stayed the same and have been able to eat a little more so that does explain why - but just wondered if the first fill will help? Can anyone help me please? Thanks Yoko xx:thumbup:
Luckyday 0 Posted November 5, 2008 Hi Yoko I am from the UK too and was banded in July this year. You shouldn't expect too much from your band before the first fill unless it was filled during surgery, which isn't a common occurrence but does happen. Before it is filled, your band should allow you to eat pretty much as before, and you should just concentrate on maintaining the weight you have lost for the time being. Do you have your first fill booked? If not, get it organised for as soon as possible. This is usually between 4 and 8 weeks after surgery, depending on the surgeon. I had to wait nearly 10 weeks for my first fill and it was very hard work indeed! Even then, I didn't notice any difference and had another two weeks later. It's all a bit hit and miss as to which fill will give you the restriction you need. Some people only need one and others can go 4-5 before they notice a difference. Hope this helps and best of luck
Yoko262 0 Posted November 5, 2008 Hi -Thank you so much for your reply - I was getting a little worried I must admit - I did not have anything put into the band during the operation but the other three girls who had the op on the same day had 2ml put in - I have the first fill booked for next wednesday in London and I am looking forward to it xx thank you again x
