I have had the band and I am going on 3 weeks out:)

Recommended Posts

I had the Lap Band surgery on October 16th at Hurley in Flint. My doctor was Dr. Farhan and he is a very good Dr. I recommend him to everyone!! I have lost a total of 26lbs so far and I walk 35minutes a day. I am excited for my first fill because I am starting to feel hungry and can eat more so I am nervous and of course I want this to succeed which it will but I also have my fears. My access port incision is hurting a bit right now but the nurses say that is normal and that is just settling in. I hope they are right!! I want to say hello to you all and good luck:thumbup:

Hi Kelly--

Congratulations on your success to date. 26 pounds in three weeks is impressive! I, too, live in Michigan and am working with a surgeon in Detroit. I haven't been approved yet, but when I am I'll have my surgery at Harper Hospital in Detroit. I've heard great things about Hurley and considered it, but when I realized there were three other good hospitals that were all centers of excellence close to my house, I chose one of them.

I so enjoy reading about people's success and thank you for sharing your story. All the best on your journey!

Take good care,

Beautylocs

No I have not, but I am looking forward to my first fill December10th. I am exercising(walking) daily even in this Michigan weather and I am drinking alot of fluids. I have slipped a bit with the diet but I get right back on track and remember why I did this to begin with. Thank you for the support. Much appreciated

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
