Yes...Happy Bandiversary...1st Week 'Out" W2T, Congrats!!!

I am ecstatic to report for duty with these reports...

Down 12 lbs and am in Onederland!!! (Have not seen in YEARS)

PCP visit yesterday...taken off BSugar Med, Cholesterol Med and now can half BP Med! No more $100. Prescription Bills!

Feeling pretty good, walking 25+ min a day, working on getting in all nutrients, got a Mega Vitamin powder to add to shakes!

Ok...now the challenges...dealing with the itchiness, Doc told me cocoa butter or benadryl cream, making sure to get all Water in, and preparing for hubby's work Christmas party on Sunday nite!

Thank you to all the Bandsters this month, I really appreciate our (W2T) comradeship to walk thru each step together, comparing notes, getting hints/helps and someone to explain our pain!

Rosey, that's fantastic! I'm glad to know you are doing so well. Keep it up! We are behind you!

You will be fine at DH's Christmas party. The band will be there to help you.

Hey everyone! It's great to hear everyone is doing so well. I had my first post op appointment today. I am down 10 pounds since my surgery a week ago! I was so excited! I too am experiencing the growies. It's amazing how much noise my stomach can make. OMG Morgan from the OR...after I read your post about the "don't trust the fart phase" I could not stop laughing. I feel your pain and thought that was the best quote.

My doctor told me I can officially start pureed and soft foods. I am excited but apprehensive. I will let you know how it goes. Keep up the good work everyone!!!!

You Go Goose! I know we have our scales...but when it is the doctor's scale sayin so..makes it more official! They didn't even have a digital this time for me...so at least it did not say...

one person at a time, please! LOL

Good for you Goose, keep up the good work...when do you move on to the next phase for foods? Have my Post-op w/ surgeon Tues, so will know then. Enjoy your weekend and moving lighter! :huh2:

Well I did my first day of mooshies! Everything went just fine. I am nervous to see the scale at the end of the week though. I am being very careful but it only stands to reason that eating food instead of liquids should produce some kind of weight gain. We shall see. I have been told that this is the limbo stage for banders and it is easy to gain during this phase if you are not careful. God willing I won't. I am excited for my first fill.

Hey Hey Hey. Reading back the posts I missed, I am glad everyone seems to be doing well and pounds are coming off.

I haven't had a chance to post since my followup with Dr on Friday. Officially down 18 pounds! That matches the loss I figured at home. Yippeee! People are starting to notice and my clothes are getting loose!

I feel great but I am hungry on the days when I haven't drank enough Protein. Having Benefiber definitely seems to have helped

Yesterday (Saturday) my DH, DS and I went biking. It was alot of fun because it was beautiful weather. I have been walking at least 2 times a day and my feet have stopped hurting when I walk. Thank goodness!

Hey Fran...bet you one hot 'biking' mama, weather not quite right here to go, but hopefully I will be ready when it turns spring! Glad to see your post and your progress, 18 lbs gone! Was excited bout regular black pants today, been wearing for awhile...but had to keep pulling them up today...welcome to the BPC! (Baggy Pants Club).

How's everyone else doing...Goose, MJenkins, Just a Girl, Morgan, Bucc?! Yes many growlies...go to Post-op on Tuesday...hope to move to next stage...mushies, puree, eggs & mash for Christmas!

Hey Rosey,

My growlies subsided significantly as soon as I started the Benifiber.

I wasn't such a hot mama but it won't be too long!

I see the weather out your way isn't too good. It turned sharply colder today and tonight when I was driving I noticed the bank clock which sometimes measures 101+ degrees in the summer months was registering a balmy 41 degrees. I would say some of the 101+ degrees are attributable to reflected surface heat, I doubt there is much of that going on tonight. Brrr! Hope everyone stays warm.

Today I had mashed taters sooo good! And no growlies..lovin this lol

How is everyone else progressing?

Hey guys. I am so ashamed of myself. I have been really bad the last week. I ate Cookies, chocolate, and other forbidden foods. I'm on the mushie stage, but what I've been eating is more solid than mushie. I feel so much regret and I'm so disappointed in myself. I have my first followup appointment next week. If I were to weigh in at the dr's office today the scale would show only a one pound weight loss. How could I have let myself do this? :tongue_smilie:

So, today I am getting back on track. I've come back here to get support. Last week I didn't visit the forum at all. I need to stop by here at least once a day to help keep myself on track. Today I joined the daily plate so I can keep track of what I'm eating. And I'm making a renewed effort to stick to the mushies, get my Protein first, and drink Water.

I had my first PB last week too. I ate chicken too quickly and I didn't chew it well enough. The chicken got stuck. It hurt and it was so gross. How is everyone else doing? I hope everyone else is doing better than I am!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
