Happy Birthday to me & Welcome to onderland....

Recommended Posts

I have been truly blessed this year I gave myself the biggest and best present ever. Health and a renewed spirit. I haven't weighed less than 200 lbs in almost 20 years....and today I am 198. The lap band is more than I can put into words, but it is only a tool and I must give myself some credit for the exercise, letting go of bad, bad eating habits and all of the positive changes I have been able to make.

I want to encourage everyone who reads this...You can do it! Even on the darkest days when you don't believe you can, keep pressing on and you will. Here's to our shared successes, may there be many many more.

Peace and many Blessings.

Congratulations -

I was banded in July and I'm often discouraged. Your words help me to keep with it.

Happy Birthday and congratulations to you both! It's an amazing feeling being in 'onederland'!

I am being banded on 12/23 and I am so excited. All of the hoops we've had to jump through will be well worth the journey to health.

We were told in our Life Skills Class that we deserve the credit as we lose weight using this tool....for it truly is a tool...

Enjoy the blessings of today!

happy Birthday, and congraulations!

And yes, it is difficult sometimes to remember that the band is a tool, not a magic wand, and that you HAVE to do the work to make it succeed. But, it is so very worth it....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
