MsButterKup23 1 Posted November 4, 2008 I've been banded for over 3 years. I got down to 160ish from 297. I quit working prior to getting preggo and ended up starting this pregnancy at 234. Well 24 weeks later I'm at 236 and having a heck of a time eating. Yes, I've only gained 2 pounds at 6 months gestation! Prior to getting preggo I also had my band completely unfilled while I was trying to figure out if I wanted to switch to GBS rather than to continue my bumpy road with the band, thus the pre-pregnancy weight gain. Now I have no interest in food. My OB is monitoring the grown of the baby and isn't yelling at me as long as she continues to grow correctly. I've had some nausea, dry hurling and occasional vomiting but nothing extreme just no interest in eating. Anyone else in this frustrating situation??
Jennie1976 1 Posted November 4, 2008 I was in the same situation as you. About four weeks ago (I think I was about 20 weeks pregnant), I hadn't gained any weight either. I weighed 204. I have other issues, so my doctor was wanting me to gain weight. Well, I guess the baby started pushing up on my stomach because it got to the point where I couldn't keep anything down. I went in for an unfill and found out my port was flipped. I had to undergo surgery (with no anesthesia!), and had all the Fluid taken out of my band. Now, about four weeks later (I am now 24 weeks), I have definitely gained (about 16 pounds!!!), but it is all in my belly. I have a feeling my doctor will not be too happy! I see him today. But, before I had all the Fluid taken out, I was only eating 3-5 bites per meal. If I hadn't had other problem (factor IV), my doctor probably would have been fine with me not gaining weight. But, I still would have had to have all the fluid taken out eventually as I couldn't keep anything down at all.
Daisalana 33 Posted November 5, 2008 I just say count your blessings, I've gained 17lbs in the first 3 months (No morning sickness) and I'm not even showing yet..
HeatherO 7 Posted November 5, 2008 I agree with FairyFacade . . . count your blessings. Better not to gain excessively. I am up 1 pound from my lowest which amazes me because my band is only half filled . . . however, pregnancy has made my band extra, extra tight. I notice that sometimes I am HUNGRRYYY, almost so hungry it hurts and I need to eat NOW . . . but then I eat a few bites and it goes away. Most of the time I am not really that interested in food for some strange reason but have been craving salt in excess.
