PATCHELTON 0 Posted November 11, 2008 I wasn't crazy about Bariatric Advantage either. I got a sampler pack before surgery to try. I switched to Centrum (which also comes in Silver, for us older folks). In support group, someone said she didn't like Centrum, but it tasted ok to me and is less expensive. I currently am trying one called Bariatric Lifestyle from BariatricShop.com. They list it as their Complete Nutritional System and 90 days worth is only $25.46. You chew one twice a day. I haven't decided whether I will reorder or go back to Centrum. They taste alright. For Calcium citrate, I use Twin Labs Calcium with Magnesium and D. It is calcium citrate and D3 (cholecalciferol). If you buy it online you can save a bundle. It comes in 60 wafer bottles and 4 a day is the serving size so it is only 15 days worth. I found it in a Healthy Options store and was actually paying $17.99 for it. I went to Twin Labs site and got links to places that carry it. vitacost.com sells it for $7.67 (that is not a typo). They charge $4.99 shipping for any size order so I usually get 4 or 5 at a time. You can get auto shipments too. I like them, so I don't plan to change, and the online price sure beats retail, even with shipping. For those interested in Fish Oil but concerned about the large gelcaps, Twin Labs makes a liquid, mint flavored fish oil. You take 1 tblsp a day and get about 1600 Omega 3's. Vitacost.com also sells that for $6 and change. There are 24 servings per bottle. I get more Omega 3 with the liquid than I was getting with 2 gelcaps. Dallas57 0 Posted November 11, 2008 Hi! I found a kids Vitamin by New Chapter at Whole Foods that is in a little packet, almost like a pixie stix and it's just crystals that you throw in your mouth and let dissolve. They aren't too bad, not great, but edible and easy. Right after a fill, I take a couple of those every day.
PATCHELTON 0 Posted November 11, 2008 I was eating the Centrum chewables in addition to a chewable vit C and chewable Calcium. I was choking them down and then I noticed (maybe pretended not to) that I had stopped taking them for almost 2 months.I now take the adult Gummy Vitamins (also purchased from target) and alternate them with the viactiv Multivitamin chews, I also take a viactiv calcium chew. I'm with little froggy - I know I take in more sugar than I should but I have gone 3 weeks and maybe only missed 1 day a week. They actually taste really good and I pack a little container with them every day and wait to take them until that first time I start to feel hungry and make sure I chew them well - haven't had a problem yet. I thought I would point out what my dietician pointed out to me about calcium. I had bought Viactiv too, but she told me that they contain calcium carbonate, which is not absorbed as well as calcium citrate. See my other post about Twin Labs chewable calcium citrate.< /p>
cmmcguire66 0 Posted November 12, 2008 Trader Joe's makes a chewable adult Vitamin, "Trader Darwin's" that tastes like a Vitamin C tablet.
mariav11204 0 Posted November 17, 2008 The watermelon flavor Bariatric Advantage Vitamins taste pretty good. I'm currently taking Nature's Code chewable multi-vitamins (pineapple flavor). I found them at GNC. They are potent and they come in a 180-count bottle. I think this size (6 month supply) costs around $35. I think that's a pretty good value. aubrie 6 Posted November 19, 2008 (edited) Funny I should read this..... I too purchased the Bariatric Advantage Vitamins. My surgeon was impressed with the breakdown and gave me the go ahead. He had originally put me on Flintstone vitamins, which I thought was very odd at the time. I bought the watermelon flavored Bariatric Advantage. OMG!!! I can barely get them down. they are chalky, and so horrible I want to literally gag. What's worse is the little chalky bits get caught in your teeth, and sometimes I crunch on a bit the next day!! I shudder just thinking about how horrible they are. So I was in Wal-Mart yesterday and was waiting on a prescription. I was near the vitamins so I started comparing them. I was SHOCKED. the Flintstones Complete actually had more in them than other brands. They were as good or better than Centrum and a lot less expensive. So.......... I bought more Flintstones. I felt ridiculous, but hey, if they're better, they're better. Not as high in B12 as the Bariatric Advantage, but I had my B12 tested, and it was fine. No worries. So from here on out, it's Flintstones for me!!!! I also found some petite size calcium citrate. It think they're called Caltrate with D. I take extra Biotin for my hair and that's about it.
