6 Months Post-op in NYC

Recommended Posts

Hi all...I am six months post-op, banded on 4/28/08 by Marian Kurian at NYU Hospital (she's in practice with Drs. Fielding and Ren). Had a very positive experience and virtully no pain. I took pain meds overnight in the hospital and Tylenol when home. I stayed home a week -- mostly because I was weak and tired. My incisions healed pretty well -- except for my port which took a bit longer -- they're starting to fade now. I've lost 30lbs -- I'm a slow loser. Until my last fill (8.1cc out of a 10cc band), I felt very little restriction. It's been 4 weeks since the fill and I have had a pretty rough time. It's a lot of experimentation and was hoping to pick up some sage advice here...

Can someone tell me how you find out who has answered your posts -- without getting annoying emails everytime from the administrator?

Uh, go in to the forum in which you've posted. There's a chart for both "views" and "replies" in which your thread is located. I hope that helped?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
